Josh is doing an experiment with water. He starts with a plastic cup of water that has a mass of 12 grams. He places the cup in

a sealed container and puts it in the freezer overnight. When he takes the container out of the freezer, he notices that the cup has cracked on its sides and the water is now frozen solid.
Which sentence BEST describes what Josh discovers about the cup of frozen water?

A)The mass of the cup of frozen water is 12 grams which means the mass did not change.

B)The mass of the cup of frozen water is greater than 12 grams because it changed to a solid.

C)The mass of the cup of frozen water is less than 12 grams because the frozen water is lighter than liquid water.

D) The mass of the cup of frozen water is greater than 12 grams because the water expanded in the cup when it froze.

Answer:

             A) The mass of the cup of frozen water is 12 grams which means the mass did not change.

Explanation:

When the cup of water is placed in a sealed container in freezer overnight the mass of the cup along with water will not change because the system is closed as well as the water present in it is not allowed to evaporating as the rate of evaporation decreases on low temperatures.

Secondly when he takes out the cup from the container he found that the cup has cracked on its sides. This has happened because when the liquid freezes, it starts to form from top because the ice has lower density and hence floats on surface. When the surface is blocked by ice, the inner liquid when freezes results in volume increases therefore, it cracks the glass.

With respect to water it is found then when eater is cooled its density first starts to increases but when it reached around 4 °C it starts forming solid ice which results in the formation of hollow spaces and hence, increases the volume by 9%.

A laboratory manual gave precise instructions for carrying out the reaction described by the chemical equation, C2H6O + O2 C2H4O
Alexxandr [17]
C2H6O + O2 ---> C2H4O2 + H2O

using the molar masses:-
24+ 6 + 16 g of C2H6O produces 24 + 4 + 32 g C2H4O2 (theoretical)
46 g produces 60g

60 g C2H4O2 is produced from 46g C2H6O
1g . .................................46/60 g
700g ................................. (46/60) * 700 Theoretically

But as the yield is only 7.5%

the required amount is ((46/60) * 700 ) / 0.075 = 7155.56 g

= 7.156 kg to nearest gram. Answer

The human body can get energy by metabolizing proteins, carbohydrates or fatty acids, depending on the circumstances. Roughly sp
Ede4ka [16]

Answer:

3:1

Explanation:

Stearic acid - C18H36O2

Fructose- C6H12O6

Since the energy content of food is roughly proportional to the carbon content. It means:

C18/C6 = 3 or 3:1

This explains why fats and oil are the major source of energy in the body and not carbohydrates. This is due to Fats and oil having larger amounts of Carbon compared to Carbohydrates.

For each of the following compounds, state whether it is ionic or covalent, and if it is ionic, write the symbols for the ions i
kupik [55]

Answer :

Covalent compound : It is defined as the compound which is formed by the sharing of electrons between the atoms forming a compound.

The covalent compound are usually formed when two non-metals react.

Ionic compound : It is defined as the compound which is formed when electron gets transferred from one atom to another atom.

All the polyatomic ions always form an ionic compound.

Polyatomic ions : It is a charged species that composed of two or more atoms and these charged species are bonded by the covalent bond.

For the given options:

Option A: KClO_4

This compound is formed by the combination of potassium, K^+ which is a metal and ClO_4^- ion which is a polyatomic ion. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

Option B: Mg(C_2H_3O_2)_2

This compound is formed by the combination of magnesium, Mg^{2+} which is a metal and C_2H_3O_2^{-} ion which is a polyatomic ion. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

Option C: H_2S

Hydrogen and sulfur, both are non-metals and they will form a covalent compound.

Option D: Ag_2S

This compound is formed by the combination of silver, Ag^{+} which is a metal and sulfur, S^{2-} which is a non-metal. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

Option E: N_2Cl_4

Nitrogen and chlorine, both are non-metals and they will form a covalent compound.

Option F: Co(NO_3)_2

This compound is formed by the combination of cobalt, Co^{2+} which is a metal and NO_3^{-} ion which is a polyatomic ion. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.
