Answer:

(a) N(t)=950e^{0.0475t}.

(b) 1020

Step-by-step explanation:

The continuous exponential growth model is defined as

y=ae^{kt}

where, a is initial value, k is growth rate and t is time.

(a)

Initial population: a = 950

Continuous growth rate : k = 4.75% = 0.0475

So, the exponential function, N(t), that represents the bacterial population after t days is

N(t)=950e^{0.0475t}

Base is e because the population growth is continuous.

Therefore, the required model is N(t)=950e^{0.0475t}  .

(b)

We need to find the bacterial population after 36 hours, to the nearest bacterium.

24 hours = 1 day

36 hours = 36/24 = 1.5 day

Substitute t=1.5 in the above equation.

y=950e^{0.0475(1.5)}

y=1020.15717199

y=1020

Therefore, the bacterial population after 36 hours is 1020.

Answer: a) N(t) = 950e^0.0475t b) 1020

Step-by-step explanation:

a)

N(t) = 950e^0.0475t.

N/B — Base is e (exponential) because growth is continuous.

b)

N = {36/24} =(approximately) 1020

The back of Monique’s property is a creek. Monique would like to enclose a rectangular area, using the creek as one side and fen
gogolik [260]

Answer:

4050 sq. feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

Fencing is done on three sides of the rectangular area.

Given that there are 180 feet of fence available.

Then 2L + W = 180 ........(1), where L = length and W = width, of the rectangular plot.

Now, the area of the plot is given by A = LW

Now, from equation (1), we ger A = L (180 - 2L) ..... (2)

Then differentiating with respect to L in the both sides we get,

\frac{dA}{dL} = 180 - 4L =0 {Since condition for Area to be maximum is \frac{dA}{dL}=0}

⇒ L = 45 feet.

Now, from equation (2), we have A_{max} =L(180-2L) = 45(180 - 90) =4050 square feet.

Vladimir [108]

Answer:

The least amount spent is £12.92

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Number of Carton = 38

A carton = 45 pence

4 carton = £1.56

To spend the least amount of money, be needs to go for the least expensive option.

There are 100 pence in £1

So, there are x pence in £1.36

x * 1 =1.36 * 100

x = 136 pence for 4 carton.

To get the price of 1 carton, divide x by 4

x/4 = 136p/4

x/4 = 34 pence.

This means that he can get a carton of juice at the rate of 34p and at the rate of 45p.

The smallest of this is 34p.

Hence total amount spent =

34 * 38

amount = 1292p --- convert to £

Amount = 1292/100

Amount = £12.92

Hence, the least amount spent is £12.92
