Answer:

(a) N(t)=950e^{0.0475t}.

(b) 1020

Step-by-step explanation:

The continuous exponential growth model is defined as

y=ae^{kt}

where, a is initial value, k is growth rate and t is time.

(a)

Initial population: a = 950

Continuous growth rate : k = 4.75% = 0.0475

So, the exponential function, N(t), that represents the bacterial population after t days is

N(t)=950e^{0.0475t}

Base is e because the population growth is continuous.

Therefore, the required model is N(t)=950e^{0.0475t}  .

(b)

We need to find the bacterial population after 36 hours, to the nearest bacterium.

24 hours = 1 day

36 hours = 36/24 = 1.5 day

Substitute t=1.5 in the above equation.

y=950e^{0.0475(1.5)}

y=1020.15717199

y=1020

Therefore, the bacterial population after 36 hours is 1020.

Answer: a) N(t) = 950e^0.0475t b) 1020

Step-by-step explanation:

a)

N(t) = 950e^0.0475t.

N/B — Base is e (exponential) because growth is continuous.

b)

N = {36/24} =(approximately) 1020

Gravity Hospital purchased a new item of equipment on January 1,20X1. The equipment has an estimated useful life of ten years an
qaws [65]

Answer:

  $25000

Step-by-step explanation:

If the salvage value is 20% of the cost, then 80% of the cost will be depreciated over 10 years. Over the 5 years from Jan 1 20X1 to Dec 31 20X5, the $10,000 accumulated depreciation represents 5/10 of that 80%, or 40% of the initial cost.

  $10,000 = 0.40 × cost

  $10,000/0.40 = cost = $25,000

The acquisition cost of the equipment was $25,000.

A drinking glass has sides following the shape of a hyperbola. The minimum diameter of the glass is 45 millimeters at a height o
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

The answer is a= 128.95 and b = 14.75

Step-by-step explanation:

Solution

Given

let the equation of the hyperbola be denoted as  x2/a2 - y2/b2 = 1 here, we will  consider the foci on the x-axis. All units are considered to be in mm.

From question stated, with x and y coordinates represents height and radius respectively,

Then,

When  x = 83 + a, y is = 45/2 = 22.5 and

At x = 180 + a, y  is = 57/2 = 28.5

It is important to know that, the height is estimated from the focus so we a a is included to the heights.

Thus,

(83+a)2/a2 - 22.52/b2 = 1 and (180+a)2/a2 - 28.52/b2 = 1

By using a calculator we have, a = 128.95 and b = 14.75

Therefore a= 128.95 and b = 14.75

Ivanna is playing a game in which she spins a spinner with 6 equal-sized slices numbered 1 through 6. The spinner stops on a num
saul85 [17]

Answer:

The spinner has 6 equal-sized slices, so each slice has a 1/6 probability of showing up.

I guess that we want to find the expected value in one spin:

number 1: wins $1

number 2: wins $3

number 3: wins $5

number 4: wins $7

number 5: losses $8

number 6: loses $8

The expected value can be calculated as:

Ev = ∑xₙpₙ

where xₙ is the event and pₙ is the probability.

We know that the probability for all the events is 1/6, so we have:

Ev = ($1 + $3 + $5 + $7 - $8 - $8)*(1/6) = $0

So the expected value of this game is $0, wich implies that is a fair game.

Tanisha and Neal are simplifying the expression . They each began the same way. Tanisha’s Work Neal’s Work Which statements are
valentina_108 [34]

Answer:

The correct simplified answer is \frac{1}{8} \left (\frac{x}{ y}  \right )^{8} or  \frac{x^8}{81\cdot y^8}

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we have the expression as

\left (\frac{(x^4)(y^{-5})}{3(x^2)(y^{-3})}   \right )^{4}

Tanisha's work

\left (\frac{(x^4)(y^{-5})}{3(x^2)(y^{-3})}   \right )^{4} = \left (\frac{(x^2)(y^{-2})}{3}   \right )^{4}

Neal's work is

\left (\frac{(x^4)(y^{-5})}{3(x^2)(y^{-3})}   \right )^{4} = \left (\frac{(x^{16})(y^{-20})}{3^4(x^8)(y^{-12})}   \right )

The correct simplified answer is   \frac{x^8}{81\cdot y^8}.

which can also be expressed as

\frac{1}{8} \left (\frac{x}{ y}  \right )^{8}

Both form represent simplified forms of the original equation.
