The speed of sound is about 3.4 × 102 meters per second. Mark is performing a science experiment and he needs to know how far so

und travels in 3 × 1010 seconds. If Mark uses a calculator to solve this problem, how will the calculator show the answer? it needs to have an E in the answer

Speed of the sound =  meters per second

Time to calculate the distance traveled =  3*10' 10 seconds

Since,

1.0*10 ' 13

Distance = Speed x Time

Using the values we get:

distance =3.4*10'2*3+10´30

3.4*3*10' (2+10)

10.2*10' 12

Since the calculators show the final answer is scientific notation, the above answer in scientific notation would be:

Distance = 1.02*10°13

(1 point) If f(t) is continuous for t≥0, the {\it Laplace transform} of f is the function F defined by F(s)=∫[infinity]0f(t)e−st
QveST [7]

Answer:

The Laplace transform of f(t) = 1 is given by

F(s) = (1/s) for all s>0

Step-by-step explanation:

Laplace transform of a function f(t) is given as

F(s) = ∫∞₀ f(t) e⁻ˢᵗ dt

Find the Laplace transform for when f(t) = 1

F(s) = ∫∞₀ 1.e⁻ˢᵗ dt

F(s) = ∫∞₀ e⁻ˢᵗ dt = (1/s) [-e⁻ˢᵗ]∞₀

= -(1/s) [1/eˢᵗ]∞₀

Note that e^(∞) = ∞

F(s) = -(1/s) [(1/∞) - (1/e⁰)]

Note that (1/∞) = 0

F(s) = -(1/s) [0 - 1] = -(1/s) (-1) = (1/s)

Hope this Helps!!!

From Statistics and Data Analysis from Elementary to Intermediate by Tamhane and Dunlop, pg 265. A thermostat used in an electri
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

t=\frac{201.77-200}{\frac{2.41}{\sqrt{10}}}=2.32

The degrees of freedom are given by:

df=n-1=10-1=9

The p value for this case is given by:

p_v =2*P(t_{(9)}>2.32)=0.0455

For this case since the p value is lower than the significance level we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis and we can conclude that the true mean is significantly different from 200 F.

Step-by-step explanation:

Information given

data: 202.2 203.4 200.5 202.5 206.3 198.0 203.7 200.8 201.3 199.0

We can calculate the sample mean and deviation with the following formulas:

\bar X= \frac{\sum_{i=1}^n X_i}{n}

\sigma=\sqrt{\frac{\sum_{i=1}^n (X_i -\bar X)^2}{n-1}}

\bar X=201.77 represent the sample mean

s=2.41 represent the sample standard deviation

n=10 sample size

\mu_o =200 represent the value that we want to test

\alpha=0.05 represent the significance level for the hypothesis test.

t would represent the statistic

p_v represent the p value for the test

Hypothesis to test

We want to determine if the true mean is equal to 200, the system of hypothesis are :

Null hypothesis:\mu = 200

Alternative hypothesis:\mu = 200

The statistic for this case is given by:

t=\frac{\bar X-\mu_o}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}} (1)

The statistic is given by:

t=\frac{201.77-200}{\frac{2.41}{\sqrt{10}}}=2.32

The degrees of freedom are given by:

df=n-1=10-1=9

The p value for this case is given by:

p_v =2*P(t_{(9)}>2.32)=0.0455

For this case since the p value is lower than the significance level we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis and we can conclude that the true mean is significantly different from 200 F.

HELP!!!!!!<br><br> y = 6kx - 2; m = 2/3
Mrrafil [7]

Answer:

k=1/9

Step-by-step explanation:

6k is the slope , and you actual slope(m) is given, hence,make em equal to each other:

6k = 2/3

k = 2/3(6) [Divide both sides by 6]

k = 1 /9 [Simplify]

Hope this helps!

Recall the scenario about Eric's weekly wages in the lesson practice section. Eric's boss have been very impressed with his work
Alona [7]

Answer:

1)\quad f(x)=\bigg\{\begin{array}{ll}12x&0\leq x

2) D: x = [0, 24]

3) R: y = [0, 384]

4) see graph

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Eric's regular wage is $12 per hour for all hours less than 9 hours.

The minimum number of hours Eric can work each day is 0.

f(x) = 12x    for   0 ≤ x < 9

Eric's overtime wage is $18 per hour for 9 hours and greater.

The maximum number of hours Eric can work each day is 24 (because there are only 24 hours in a day).

f(x) = 18(x - 8) + 12(8)

    = 18x - 144 + 96

    = 18x - 48           for 9 ≤ x ≤ 24

The daily wage where x represents the number of hours worked can be displayed in function format as follows:

f(x)=\bigg\{\begin{array}{ll}12x&0\leq x

2) Domain represents the x-values (number of hours Eric can work).

The minimum hours he can work in one day is 0 and the maximum he can work in one day is 24.

D:  0 ≤ x ≤ 24        →        D: x = [0, 24]

3) Range represents the y-values (wage Eric will earn).

Eric's wage depends on the number of hours he works. Use the Domain (given above) to find the wage.

The minimum hours he can work in one day is 0.

f(x) = 12x

f(0) = 12(0)

     =  0

The maximum hours he can work in one day is 24 <em>(although unlikely, it is theoretically possible).</em>

f(x) = 18x - 48

f(24) = 18(24) - 48

       = 432 - 48

       = 384

D:  0 ≤ y ≤ 384        →        D: x = [0, 384]

4) see graph.

Notice that there is an open dot at x = 9 for f(x) = 12x

and a closed dot at x = 9 for f(x) = 18x - 48
