The Society of Automotive Engineers has established an accepted numerical scale to measure the viscosity of motor oil. For examp

le, SAE 40 motor oil has a higher viscosity than an SAE 10 oil.
Rank the following hydrocarbons by their expected viscosity.
Rank from most to least viscous.

a. CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3
b. CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3

Because its molecules can slide around each other, a liquid has the ability to flow. The resistance to such flow is called the viscosity. For organic liquids, as the chain increases the viscosity increases as well due to the bonding that is present. Therefore, the ranking should be as follows:

CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3
CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3
CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH3

Explanation:

Viscosity is defined as the ability of a liquid substance to oppose its flow. So, more is the mass of a liquid more will be its viscosity.

Since, the given option of hydrocarbons show different compounds. And, longer is the chain of hydrocarbon more will be its mass.

As a result, more difficulty it will face to flow. Therefore, it means greater will be the viscosity of hydrocarbon that has longer chain of carbon and hydrogen atoms.

Thus, we can conclude that given hydrocarbons are ranked from most to least viscous as follows.

CH_{3}CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_3 > CH_3CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_3 > CH_3CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_2CH_3

Urea contains two nitrogen atoms. what is the source of these two nitrogen atoms?
Oksi-84 [34.3K]
The source of these two nitrogen atoms are ammonia (NH₃) from nitrogen compounds (mostly metabolism of amino acids) through which excess nitrogen is eliminated from organisms. This process is called urea cycle, which extracted nitrogenous wastes.
The liver forms it by combining two ammonia molecules with a carbon dioxide molecule.

A 0.216 g sample of an aluminium compound X reacts with an excess of water to produce a single hydrocarbon gas. This gas burns c
makkiz [27]
0.216g of aluminium compound X react with an excess of water water to produce gas. this gas burn completely in O2 to form H2O and 108cm^3of CO2 only . the volume of CO2 was measured at room temperature and pressure

0.108 / n  =  24 / 1
n = 0.0045 mole ( CO2 >>0.0045 mole
0.216 - 0.0045 = 0.2115
so Al =   0.2115 / 27  =>  0.0078 mole
C = 0.0045 * 1000 => 4.5    and Al  = 0.0078 * 1000 = 7.8

If 3.491 grams of the precipitate was formed, how many moles of strontium bromide were reacted
AVprozaik [17]
The balanced chemical equation that represents the reaction is as follows:
SrBr2(aq) + 2AgNO3(aq) → Sr(NO3)2(aq) + 2AgBr(s)

From the periodic table:
mass of silver = 108 grams
mass of bromine = 80 grams

molar mass of silver bromide = 108 + 80 = 188 grams

number of moles = mass / molar mass
number of moles of produced precipitate = 3.491/188 = 0.018 moles

From the balanced equation:
1 mole of strontium bromide produces 2 moles of silver bromide. Therefore, to calculate the number of moles of strontium bromide that produces 0.018 moles of silver bromide, you will just do a cross multiplication as follows:
amount of strontium bromide = (0.018x1) / 2 = 9.28 x 10^-3 moles
