Answer:

8 Km towards north and 15 Km towards east.

Step-by-step explanation:

On the paper we define directions as -

  • East - towards right
  • West - towards left
  • North - towards up
  • South - towards down

The figure below illustrates the movement of Sang Jae.

Let he walked <em>x</em> Km distance towards north.

Distance towards east will be <em>x + 7 Km</em>

Given that the distance from origin to the final point is 17 Km.

As the triangle OAC is right angle triangle so

OA^{2} + AC^{2} = OC^{2}

x^{2} + (x +7)^{2}  = 289

x^{2}  + x^{2}  + 14x^{} + 49 = 289

2x^{2} + 14x^{}  - 240 = 0

x^{2}  + 7x^{} - 120 = 0

x^{2}  + 15x^{}  - 8x^{}  - 120 = 0

x^{} (x^{} +15) - 8^{} (x^{} +15)=0

(x^{} -8)(x^{} +15)=0

x^{} = -15, 8

Eliminating the negative value we get x = 8 Km.

So, Sang walked towards north = 8 Km.

And towards East = 8 + 7 = 15 Km.

What is the format of this proof? Given: ∠ABC is a right angle, ∠DBC is a straight angle Prove: ∠ABD is a right angle two-column
borishaifa [10]

Answer: Two column proof.

Explanation :

A two-column proof is one common way to organize a proof in geometry.Two-column proof always has two columns where one for statements and one for reasons.

Here,

\angle ABC is a right angle and \angle DBC is a straight angle(180^{\circ}) .    (given)

Therefore, \angle ABD  must be right angle. ( because, \angle ABD=\angle DBC-\angle ABC= 180^{\circ}-90^{\circ}=90^{\circ})

Which is the required proof.

Since, In the above proof both statements and reasons both mentioned, therefore, it is the two column proof.

Note: We can also make a table which consist of two columns, in first we can mention 'statements' while in second column we can mention 'reasons'.

Your sister helped you get a dream job at a designer clothing store and one of the perks of the job is that you get 15% off all
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

$197.30 revenue.

Step-by-step explanation:

As long as we realise that 15% = $237.50 total revenue - 15% of that revenue $40.20 and the other 15% was totaled prior and kept to one side as seen as expenditure.

revenue = r  clothing purchase = p

r = (25 x 10 -12.50) - (p15% of e235)

r = (250 - 12.50) -( e235- p23.5 +11.73)

r = (237.50) - (expenditure 235- p35.73)

r = 237.50 -(expenditure 199.27)

r= 237.50

e = 199.27

p = 35.73

Answer with out including expenditure your sister revenue was $237.50

The 15% deduction cannot be confused with the deduction from clothes.

If we were to calculate 15% of $237.50 this would be 23.7+ 16.85 =$40.2

A different  Salary related 15% contribution payments = $40.20

If these were taken from $237.50

Then $237.50- $40.20 = $197.30 revenue, but we do not have to show expenditure in the total only the workings, which is still owed being $199.27- $40.20 already paid towards.

Extension = This means because $40.20 was deducted then expenditure still to be deducted outside of the question would be   e. $199.27 - $40.20 = 159.07 still owed. Saying that the 15% was to pay your sisters contribution to the clothes and not to the state.

Your tutor asks you to record the time you spend using IT during the week. You have recorded this time below: Day Time Monday 0.
NikAS [45]

Let us convert all figures into decimals so that we can compare them easily.

Monday    0.3

Tuesday   15% = 0.15

Wednesday   1/6 = 0.1666

Thursday   0.2

Friday   1/8 = 0.125

Clearly, I spent the least amount of time on Friday using IT and the time is 0.125 or 1/8.
