Answer:

The steel bed will contract by  0.13 m, and expand by 0.052 m

Explanation:

For contraction,

α = ΔL/(LΔθ)..................... Equation 1

Where α = Linear expansivity of  steel, ΔL = decrease in length/ Increase in length, L = Original length, Δθ = Change in temperature

make ΔL the subject of the equation

ΔL = α(LΔθ)................. Equation 2

Given: α = 13×10⁻⁶/C, L = 200 m, Δθ = -30-20 = -50 °C

Substitute into equation 2

ΔL = 13×10⁻⁶(200)(-50)

ΔL = -0.13 m

Similarly, For expansion,

Using equation 2

ΔL =  α(LΔθ)

Given: α = 13×10⁻⁶/C, L = 200 m, Δθ = 40-20 = 20  °C

Substitute into equation 2

ΔL =  13×10⁻⁶(200)(20)

ΔL = 0.052 m.

Hence the steel bed will contract by  0.13 m, and expand by 0.052 m

A battery charges a parallel-plate capacitor fully and then is removed. The plates are then slowly pulled apart. What happens to
White raven [17]

Answer:

<h2>The potential difference increases </h2>

Explanation:

from the relation E= \frac{V}{d}

where E= electric field (force per coulomb)

            V= voltage

            d= distance

Hence the voltage is going to be V= E×d.

Therefore this means that increasing the distance increases the voltage.

Ancient Greek philosophers spent lots of time thinking about science and imaging explanations for the natural world. What part o
Illusion [34]

Answer:

Testing

Explanation:

Ancient Greek philosophers lived with the ideology to simply contemplate life. This means that their whole life revolved around thinking and questioning everything. This would include creative thinking, because they would sometimes come up with theories which require creativeness. They would often debate with their friends as to why their theory should be accepted or what their opinions were on the matter. More often than not, they argued a lot, and many philosophers went against some powerful people in the community and some were even sentenced to death.

The main process they didn't/couldn't do was the testing. They could never test certain theories because they did not have the means to.

Calculate the current through a 10.0-m long 22-gauge nichrome wire with a radius of 0.321 mm if it is connected across a 12.0-V
Kipish [7]

Answer:

Therefore,

Current through Nichrome wire is 0.3879 Ampere.

Explanation:

Given:

Length = l = 10 meter

Radius = r = 0.321\ mm =0.321\times 10^{-3}\ meter

Resistivity=\rho=1.00\times 10^{-6}\ ohm\ meter

V = 12 Volt

To Find:

Current, I =?

Solution:

Resistance for 0.0-m long 22-gauge nichrome wire with a radius of 0.321 mm if it is connected across a 12.0-V battery given as

R=\dfrac{\rho\times l}{A}

Where,

R = Resistance

l = length

A = Area of cross section = πr²

\rho=Resistivity=1.00\times 10^{-6}\ ohm\ meter

Substituting the values we get

R=\dfrac{1\times 10^{-6}\times 10}{3.14\times (0.321\times 10^{-3})^{2}}

R=\dfrac{1\times 10^{-5}}{3.23\times 10^{-7}}

R=\dfrac{1\times 10^{2}}{3.23}

R=30.95\ ohm

Now by Ohm's Law,

V= I\times R

Substituting the values we get

I=\dfrac{V}{R}=\dfrac{12}{30.95}=0.3876\ Ampere

Therefore,

Current through Nichrome wire is 0.3879 Ampere.

Which best describes nuclear fusion?
MrMuchimi

Answer:

The statement that best describes nuclear fusion is;

Nuclei combine to form a heavier nucleus, releasing energy

Explanation:

In nuclear fusion, we have the reaction of the nuclei of two or more atoms coming together (combining) to form heavier elements and subatomic particles such as protons and neutrons accompanied by the release or absorption in energy depending on the difference between the mass of the reactants and the products

Some nuclear fusion reaction require an input of energy and such reactions are therefore not spontaneous

The best option is nuclei (two or more nuclei) combine to form a heavier nucleus, releasing energy.

Determine the maximum weight of the bucket that the wire system can support so that no single wire develops a tension exceeding
stellarik [79]
Let there be N number of wires.

Maximum tension a wire can withstand = 100 lb

so, Total tension N wires can withstand =  100 N

now, total tension in N wires = Maximum weight of bucket

100 N  = W

so, W = 100N

W is the weight of bucket and 100N is its maximum value.
