The extraction of aluminum metal from the aluminum hydroxide in bauxite ore by the Hall-Héroult process is one of the most remar

kable success stories of late 19th century practical chemistry, turning aluminum from a rare and precious metal into the cheap commodity it is today. In the first step, aluminum hydroxide reacts to form alumina and water: 2AlOH3(s)→Al2O3(s)+3H2O(g) In the second step, alumina and carbon react to form aluminum and carbon dioxide: 2Al2O3(s)+3C(s)→4Al(s)+3CO2(g) Write the net chemical equation for the production of aluminum from aluminum hydroxide and carbon. Be sure your equation is balanced.

<u>Answer:</u> The net chemical equation for the  production of aluminium from aluminium hydroxide and carbon is 2Sl(OH)_3(s)+3C(s)\rightarrow 4Al(s)+3CO_2(g)+3H_2O(g)

<u>Explanation:</u>

The given intermediate reactions are:

<u>Step 1:</u>  2Al(OH)_3(s)\rightarrow Al_2O_3(s)+3H_2O(g)

<u>Step 2:</u>  2Al_2O_3(s)+3C(s)\rightarrow 4Al(s)+3CO_2(g)

By combining these two above equations, we will get the net chemical equation for the production of aluminium from aluminium hydroxide and carbon.

The net chemical equation follows:

2Sl(OH)_3(s)+3C(s)\rightarrow 4Al(s)+3CO_2(g)+3H_2O(g)

Hence, the net chemical equation for the  production of aluminium from aluminium hydroxide and carbon is 2Sl(OH)_3(s)+3C(s)\rightarrow 4Al(s)+3CO_2(g)+3H_2O(g)

How many ions are there in 0.187 mol of Na+ ions
kondaur [170]
Best Answer
1 mole of a substance contains 6.022x10^23 "units" of that substance.

So 0.187 mol of Na+ is 1.13x10^23 ions (6.022x10^23 x 0.187).

Calculate the molarity of 1.0 mol of KCl in 750 ml of solution
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

[KCl] = 1.33 M

Explanation:

Molarity is mol /L

Mol of solute in 1 L of solution

Volume of solution is 750 mL

750 mL / 1000 = 0.750 L

1 mol / 0.750L = M → 1.33

Calculate ΔH and ΔStot when two copper blocks, each of mass 10.0 kg, one at 100°C and the other at 0°C, are placed in contact in
ira [324]

Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

        m = 10.0 kg = 10,000 g    (as 1 kg = 1000 g)

      Initial temp. of block 1, T_{1} = 100^{o}C = (100 + 273) K = 373 K

      Initial temp. of block 2, T_{2} = 0^{o}C = (0 + 273) K = 273 K

So, heat released by block 1 = heat gained by block 2

            mC \Delta T = mC \times \Delta T

  10000 g \times 0.385 \times (T_{f} - 100)^{o}C = 10000 g \times 0.385 \times (0 - T_{f})^{o}C

                  T_{f} - 100^{o}C = 0^{o}C - T_{f}

                   2T_{f} = 100^{o}C

                          T_{f} = 50^{o}C

Convert temperature into kelvin as (50 + 273) K = 323 K.

Also, we know that the relation between enthalpy and temperature change is as follows.

             \Delta H = mC \Delta T

                         = 10000 g \times 0.385 J/K g \times 323 K

                         = 1243550 J

or,                     = 1243.5 kJ

Now, calculate entropy change for block 1 as follows.

     \Delta S_{1} = mC ln \frac{T_{f}}{T_{i}}

            = 10000 g \times 0.385 J/K g \times ln \frac{323}{373}

            = 10000 g \times 0.385 J/K g \times -0.143

            = -554.12 J/K

Now, entropy change for block 2 is as follows.

   \Delta S_{2} = mC ln \frac{T_{f}}{T_{i}}

           = 10000 g \times 0.385 J/K g \times ln \frac{323}{273}

           = 10000 g \times 0.385 J/K g \times 0.168

           = 647.49 J/K

Hence, total entropy will be sum of entropy change of both the blocks.

            \Delta S_{total} = \Delta S_{1} + \Delta S_{2}

                       = -554.12 J/K + 647.49 J/K

                       = 93.37 J/K

Thus, we can conclude that for the given reaction \Delta H is 1243.5 kJ and \Delta S_{total} is 93.37 J/K.

Lin received 200 new laptops to be issued to company employees. Lin was asked to set them up and distribute them to everyone on
OleMash [197]

Answer:

Inventory management documentation

Explanation:

Inventory management documentation is a system of tracking the company's stock. In ordinary terms, Inventory management refers to the sequential processes which include; ordering, storing, and using a company's inventory. The scope of inventory management also covers the management of raw materials, components, and finished products as well as warehousing and processing such items.

Inventory management documentation will surely aid Lin to know what employee has received his/her laptop and who has not from his inventory records. The scope of Inventory management documentation transverses the entire spectrum of a supply chain.
