Please decide whether each of the follow scenarios related to the loanable funds market will result in a shift in supply or a sh

ift in demand. China decides to reduce its capital investment in the United States as it expects low returns due to a weak U.S. economy. Calopolis, a college town in Northern California, has for many years banned the presence of fast food restaurants in city limits. As of 2012, however, the city will allow several fast food companies to open franchised locations. Due to an increase in revenues after a tax hike, the United States is able to eliminate the deficit and begins to maintain a balanced budget for the first time in several decades. As a result of a stock market boom, individuals begin to feel richer and spend more while also saving less.

Answer:

1. When China decides to reduce its capital investment in the US, US's capital inflows, which are a source of loanable funds in the US, take a hit. This leads to a reduction in supply of loanable funds in the US, shifting the supply curve leftward.

2. When a ban is imposed on fast food restaurants, the amount loanable funds demanded by the fast food industry reduces, leading to a leftward shift m the demand curve of loanable funds.

3. When fast food restaurants are allowed to open franchised locations, the amount loanable funds demanded by the fast food industry increases, leading to a rightward shift m the demand curve of loanable funds.

4. When the US government reduces its deficit, it reduces its borrowings. A reduction in borrowing by the US government leads to a reduction in the demand for loanable funds, and therefore shifts the demand curve fur loanable funds leftward.

5. When individual start to spend more owing to the wealth effect, savings reduce, leading to a fall in the supply of loanable funds. Due to this, there occurs a leftward shift in the supply calve for loanable funds.

mixer [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is letter "C": top management's attitude toward decentralized operating structures.

Explanation:

Sales forecasts have the purpose of providing companies with an idea of how their sales environment is going to be within a specific period. By forecasting, firms obtain objective information from inside and outside the company that allows them to maximize the distribution of their resources to cover the customers' demands in the future.

Thus, an executive's attitude over decentralized operating structures is not relevant for sales forecasting.

Explanation:

Discount is defined as a deduction from the selling price of a product, and it is used as a way to attract more customers by using price advantage compared to competitors.

The following formula can be used to calculate discount

Discount rate = Rate of return + Competitor's beta (market risk premium)

Discount rate = 0.031 + 1.43(0.076)

Discount rate= 0.13968= 13.968%

Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

1. $3,799,988

2. $3,419,989

Explanation:

1. Semiannual lease payment = $468,683

Total semiannual payments = 5*2 = 10

Incremental borrowing rate = 10%, 5% semiannual

Present value of minimum lease payments used to record right to use assets = Semi Annual lease payments * Cumulative PV Factor of annuity due for 10 periods at 5%

= $468,683 * 8.1078 = $3,799,988.0274 ≈ $3,799,988

2. Semiannual payment on 30.06.2021 = $468,683

Pretax amount of liability on 30.06.2021 = ($ 3,799,988.0274 - $468,683) = $3,331,305.0274

Interest expense for 31.12.2021 = $3,331,305.0274 * 5% = $166,565.25137

Semiannual lease payment on 31.12.2021 = $468,683

Pre tax amount for liability December 31, 2021 = $3,331,305.0274 + $166,565.25137 - $468,683 = $3,029,187.2788

Depreciation on right to use assets for 2021 = ($3,799,988.0274 ÷ 5) * (5/10)= $379,998.80274

Pre tax amount of right to use asset to be reported for 2021 = $3,799,988.0274 - $379,998.80274 = $3,419,989.2247 ≈ $3,419,989

Vlada [557]

Answer:

$125,000

Explanation:

Given the following resorted data from the question:

                                          Spot Rate Forward Rate for

                                                                          March 16, 2020 Delivery

November 16, 2019 $1.250 $ 1.248

December 31, 2019 1.260 1.255

March 16, 2020 1.265 1.265

The applicable rate to use to calculate the amount the company will report sales revenue on its 2019 income statement is the spot rate ruling on the date the company made the sale to the customer in Germany, i.e. $1.250 on November 16, 2019.

Therefore, we have:

Sales revenue = €100,000 * $1.250 = $125,000.

Therefore, the amount the company will report sales revenue on its 2019 income statement is $125,000.
