Click on the Delta H changes sign whan a process is reversed button within the activity and analyze the relationship between the

two reactions that are displayed. The reaction that was on the screen when you started and its derivative demonstrate that the reaction enthalpy, ΔH, changes sign when a process is reversed. Consider the reaction H2O(l)→H2O(g), ΔH =44.0kJ What will ΔH be for the reaction if it is reversed?

Answer:

ΔH = - 44.0kJ

Explanation:

H2O(l)→H2O(g), ΔH =44.0kJ

In the reaction above, liquid water changes to gaseous water. This occurs through a process known as boiling. This process requires heat, hence the ΔH  is positive.

If he reaction is reversed, we have;

H2O(g)→H2O(l)

In this reaction, gaseous water changes to liquid water. This process is known as condensation. The water vapor loses heat in this reaction. Hence ΔH would be negative but still  have the same value.

You are performing a simple distillation of roughly 50:50 liquid solution containing two components, hexane and nonane You place
kifflom [539]

Answer:

Explanation:

Refractive index is a undimensional measurement that describes how fast light travels through the material. It is used to see the liquid purity of compounds.

In this problem you have in the beginning a 50:50 solution oh hexane:nonane and realize distillation.

In distillation the collect is enriched with the most volatille substance (hexane). So you will have in the final sample more hexane than nonane.

Assuming the refractive index varies linearly with mole fraction, you will have:

1,375 → 100% hexane

1,407 → 100% nonane

1,385 → ???

molar fraction of hexane:

100 - (1,385 - 1,375) / (1,407 - 1,375) × 100 = 69 %

molar fraction of nonane:

100 - (1,407 - 1,385) / (1,407 - 1,375) × 100 = 31 %

The relation of the distillating fraction is (69:31) of (hexane:nonane)

You can see that distillation is a technique that allows the separation of a liquid mixture, for example.

I hope it helps!

In 1-2 sentences, explain why weather can be predicted only as probable, not definite. (2 points) Plaese help me
anyanavicka [17]

Weather can be predicted only as probable, not definite because the daily weather conditions depends on winds and storms.

It is common observation that weather forecasts are often given as a probability and never in definite terms.

This is because, the weather condition at anytime depends on the temperature of the earth's atmosphere which causes air masses to move leading to wind.

The temperature of the earth's atmosphere changes frequently hence weather conditions also change frequently.

What is the pH of a solution with a 7.8 × 10−13 M hydronium ion concentration?
Helga [31]

Answer:

D. 12

Explanation:

The pH is a measure of the acidity of a solution. The pH indicates the concentration of hydronium ions [H3O +] present in a solution;

pH = - log [H3O+]

So

pH= - log [7.8 × 10−13 M]

finally

pH= 12
