You need to borrow money for gas, so you ask your mother and your sister. You can only borrow money from one of them. Before giv

ing you money, they each say they will make you play a game. Your sister says she wants you to flip a fair coin. She will give you $9 for heads and $21 for tails. Your mother says she wants you to roll a six-sided die. She will give you $5 times the number that appears on the die. Determine the expected value of each game and decide which offer you should take.

$30 for the flip a coin game.
$105 for the dice game.
- > heads = $9
-> tails = $21
^ $9+$21=$30

dice game-
6 sides of a dice, she doubles it by 5.
1*5 + 2*5 + 3*5 + 4*5 + 5*5 + 6*5
^ 5+10+15+20+25+30= 105.
-> $105 for dice game.

you can easily get $9/$21 from your sister, but it won’t be as much from the dice, but you have more risk going with the dice since there’s 6 sides. the highest to get from your mother is $30 and the highest from your sister is $21, but the dice is the better deal.

Arada [10]
He sold 87 muffins.
28.50 / 0.75=38 muffins, thats how much he had to sell to get hes money back on the supplies.
36.75 / 0.75=49 muffins, the profit money equals to 49 muffins, so 38+49=87

Marcus has a pool that can hold a maximum of 4500 gallons of water. The pool already contains 1500 gallons of water. Marcus begi
Murljashka [212]
First, let's subtract the whole pool by the water currently in to find the water needed to fill it:
4500 - 1500 = 3000
Because we need to represent an inequality:
30m = 3000
Divide both by 30:
m = 100
It will take 100 minutes

Which congruence theorem can be used to prove △MLQ ≅ △NPQ?

AAS
SSS
ASA
SAS
storchak [24]
Answer: SSS

Proof:
In ΔMLQ and ΔNPQ,
MQ = NQ (given) S
Since Q is the midpoint of LP, by definition, LQ = QP (S)
LM = PN (given) S

∴ ΔMLQ ≡ ΔNPQ (SSS)

Larry mixed 15 grams of salt with 210 grams of a 5% salt solution in water. What is the percent of salt in his new solution?
Olegator [25]
When the concentration of a solution is expressed in weight percentages, that is just equal to the mass of solute over the mass of the total solution. For a solution weighing 210 grams, 5% of it is salt. That is equal to

210*0.05= 10.5 g salt

The rest of the amount, determined by difference, is the amount of solvent which is water.

water = 210-10.5 = 199.5 g salt

To solve for the new concentration, you add up 15 g to the already existing 10.5 g of salt in the solution. The water, on the other hand, remains constant.

Concentration = (15+10.5)/(210+15) = 0.1133 or 11.33%

Explain how knowing 1+7 helps you find the sum for7+1
ss7ja [257]
1+7 and 7+1 are the same equations. The numbers are just switched around .
Example:
1+2=3
2+1+3

They add up to the same answer no matter where they are placed, therefore knowing 1+7 helps you find the sum of 7+1 (again, because they are the same)
