Answer:

Given,

There is a feeding trough shaped like a rectangular right face ( opened from the top face ),

Having length, l = 6 m,

Width, w = 4 m,

And, height, h = 5 m,

(a) Since, each face is rectangular shape,

Thus, the area of front face or back face = l × h = 6 × 5 = 30 m²,

Area of bottom face = l × w = 6 × 4 = 24 m²,

Area of either of side face ( left face or right face ) = w × h = 4 × 5 = 20 m²,

(b) We know that the surface area of a rectangular prism is,

A = 2(lw + wh + hl)

= 2 (24+20+30)

= 2(74)

= 148 m²

Since, feeding trough is open from the top,

So, its surface area would be get after subtracting top face area from total surface area of the prism,

Also, the area of open face = l × w = 6 × 4 = 24 m²

Hence, the total surface area of the feeding trough = 148 - 24 = 124 m²

Find a linear equation to model this real-world application:
SSSSS [86.1K]

The linear equation to model the company's monthly expenses is y = 2.5x + 3650

Solution:

Let "x" be the units produced in a month

It costs ABC electronics company $2.50 per unit to produce a part used in a popular brand of desktop computers.

Cost per unit = $ 2.50

The company has monthly operating expenses of $350 for utilities and $3300 for salaries

We have to write the linear equation

The linear equation to model the company's monthly expenses in the form of:

y = mx + b

Cost per unit = $ 2.50

Monthly Expenses = $ 350 for utilities and $ 3300 for salaries

Let "y" be the total monthly expenses per month

Then,

Total expenses = Cost per unit(number of units) + Monthly Expenses

y = 2.50(x) + 350 + 3300\\\\y = 2.5x + 3650

Thus the linear equation to model the company's monthly expenses is y = 2.5x + 3650

The only ones that would work are if the factor is composite and if 1 is added to it it can be divided into 48. So 15 would work. The factor 15 is composite, and if 1 is added it can be divided into 48.Therefore the son is 15.

ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

a. Error is 0.14

b. between 1913.68 to 1772.32

Step-by-step explanation:

Requirement a)

The margin of error is a statistic expressing the amount of random sampling error in a survey's results.

Given,

Size of the sample n = 50

We know, At 95% confidence interval,

The margin of error,

= 0.98/√n

= 0.98/√50

= 0.98/7.07

= 0.13859 ~ 0.14

So the margin of error at 95% confidence level is 0.14.

Requirement b)

Given,

Standard deviation σ = 255

Population mean z = 1814

Size of the sample n = 50

We know, At 95% confidence interval,

(z-µ)/(σ/√n) < Z_0.05

= - Z_0.05 < (z-µ)/(σ/√n) < Z_0.05

= - 1.96 * σ/√n < (z-µ)/(σ/√n)* σ/√n < 1.96 * σ/√n [ in two tail Z test the value of Z_0.05 is 1.96 ]

= - 1.96 * 255/√50 < Z-µ < 1.96 * 255/√50

= -70.6828 < Z-µ < 70.6828

= 70.6828 > µ - Z > -70.6828

= 70.6828 + Z > µ > -70.6828 + Z

= 70.6828 + 1814 > µ > -70.6828 + 1814

=1913.68 > µ > 1772.32

So, the sample mean would be between 1913.68 to 1772.32.
