A block of wood has density 0.50 g/cm3 and mass 1 500 g. it floats in a container of oil (the oil's density is 0.75 g/cm3). what

To determine the volume of oil that was displaced, we do summation of forces around the block of wood. Two forces are involved namely the weight and the buoyant force which are in opposite directions. We do as follows:

W - Fb = 0
W = Fb
m(wood)g = m(oil)g
m(wood) = m(oil displaced)
m(wood) = density (V(oil displaced))
1500 g = 0.7500 g / cm^3 (V(oil displaced))
V(oil displaced) = 2000 cm^3

Assume you are driving 20 mph on a straight road. Also, assume that at a speed of 20 miles per hour, it takes 100 feet to stop.
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:900  feet

Explanation:

Given

Velocity \left ( V_1\right )=20 mph\approx 29.334 ft/s

it take 100 feet to stop

Using Equation of motion

v^2-u^2=2as

where

v,u=Final and initial velocity

a=acceleration

s=distance moved

0-\left ( 29.334\right )^2=2\left (-a\right )\left ( 100\right )

a=\frac{29.334^2}{2\times 100}=4.302 ft/s^2

When velocity is 60 mph\approx 88.002 ft/s

v^2-u^2=2as

0-\left ( 88.002\right )^2=2\left ( -4.302\right )\left ( s\right )

s=900.08 feet

The resistivity of a silver wire with a radius of 5.04 × 10–4 m is 1.59 × 10–8 ω · m. if the length of the wire is 3.00 m, what
Alexxx [7]
<span>5.98 x 10^-2 ohms. Resistance is defined as: R = rl/A where R = resistance in ohms r = resistivity (given as 1.59x10^-8) l = length of wire. A = Cross sectional area of wire. So plugging into the formula, the known values, including the area of a circle being pi*r^2, gives: R = 1.59x10^-8 * 3.00 / (pi * (5.04 x 10^-4)^2) R = (4.77 x 10^-8) / (pi * 2.54016 x 10 ^-7) R = (4.77 x 10^-8) / (7.98015 x 10^-7) R = 5.98 x 10^-2 ohms So that wire has a resistance of 5.98 x 10^-2 ohms.</span>
