Gina started hiking down a mountain trail at the same time that Melissa started hiking up the trail. Melissa's elevation is repr

esented by the equation h = 2 + t, and Gina's elevation is represented by h = 9.5 – 1.5t, where t represents the number of hours they have been hiking. What point represents the time, in hours, since they started hiking and the elevation where Melissa and Gina meet on the trail?

Answer:

point (3,5) represents the time in hours , since they started hiking and the elevation where Melissa and Gina meet on the taril.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given , Gina started hiking down a mountain trail and Melissa started hiking up the trail at the same time.

Melissa's elevation is represented by the equation

h=2+t

Gina's elevation is represented by the equation

h=9.5-1.5t

Where t= Number of hours for hiking

h= Elevation

Now, using elimintaion method

In this method we equate the coefficient of any variable h or t and then subtract one equation from other equation and we get value of h or t then put the value of h or t in any equation and get the value of other variable .

Now , by using this method subtract Melissa's elevation equation from Gina's elevation equation then we get

0=7.5-2.5t

2.5t=7.5

t=\frac{7.5}{2.5}

we get ,t=3

Now, put the value of t in Melissa's equation then we get value of h

h=2+3

h=5

Hence, time,t=3 hours and elevation, h= 5

Therefore, the point is (3,5) represents the time ,in hours ,since they started hiking and the elevation where Melissa and Gina meet on the trail.

If h(x) = 6 – x, what is the value of (h circle h) (10)?
Marta_Voda [28]

Answer:

10

Step-by-step explanation:

hoh(x) = h(h(x)) = 6 - h(x) = 6 - (6-x) = 6 - 6 + x = x

then

hoh(x) = x

then

hoh(10) = 10
