Explanation

According to Aufbau principle in ground state, electrons of atom fill the atomic orbital of lowest energy level before occupying that of higher energy level .

  • 1s orbital is of lower energy and is filled first , followed by 2s orbital , 2p orbital , 3s orbital, 3p orbital and finally 4s orbital
  • S orbital can hold a maximum of 2 electrons . P orbital can hold a maximum of 6 electrons while d orbital can hold a maximum of of 10 electrons.

Therefore  element  in  atomic number 19  has  1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s1  electron configuration .

If 350.0 grams of Cr2O3 are reacted with 235.0 grams of elemental silicon, 213.2 grams of chromium metal are recovered. What is
bulgar [2K]
We calculate for the amount of chromium metal in the reactant by,
                            = 350 x (mass of Cr2/mass of Cr2O3)
                                 = 350 x (104/152)
                                   = 239.47 grams
The amount of Cr metal in the product is only 213.2 grams. Thus, the percent yield.
                        percent yield = (213.2 grams/239.47) x 100%
                                             = 89%

Calculate the heat change in calories for melting 65 g of ice at 0 ∘c.
Genrish500 [490]

When ice melts, the physicals state changes from solid to liquid. The energy or the heat required (q) required to change a unit mass (m) of a substance from solid to liquid is known as the enthalpy or heat of fusion (ΔHf). The variables; q, m and ΔHf are related as:

q = m * ΔHf

the mass of ice m = 65 g

the heat of fusion of water at 0C = ΔHf = 334 J/g

Therefore: q = 65 g * 334 J/g = 21710 J

Now:

4.184 J = 1 cal

which implies that: 21710 J = 1 cal * 21710 J/4.184 J = 5188.8 cal

Hence the heat required is 5188.8 cal or 5.2 Kcal (approx)

In 200 g of a concentrated solution of 70.4 wt% nitric acid (r = 1.41 g/mL, FW(HNO3) = 63.01 g/mol), how many grams of water are
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

59.2 grams

Explanation:

We are given that 70.4% of the weight of the total 200 g of the concentration is made up of nitric acid, the remaining information is not required to solve the problem. Since water and nitric acid are the only components of the solution, the total weight of water is given by:

W = 200*(1-0.704)\\W=59.2\ g

There are 59.2 grams of water in this solution.

Triss [41]

Answer:

D. Sulfur Hexafluride

Explanation:

  • above it says the substance floats above water at room temperature and lists some substances and their density at room temp!
  • we know that the density of water is 1.0 so the substance in order for it to float has to be less than 1.0 and the densities for Sulfer Hexa, are all less than 1!!

I hope this helped !!
