Set point theory implies the probable results of bariatric surgery that it will not occur in long term weight loss because after the surgery the body will hold change and attempt its set point.

The set point theory maintains that a person’s body will struggle to sustain that particular weight limit. Every individual, male or female, has a set point, and since the individual have no control over eye color, hair color or stature, in the similar way we don't have any command over our set point.
