No because if it is a square all the sides are 7m long so a 9m plank will not fit. Hope this helps.

∆ABC is translated 2 units down and 1 unit to the left. Then it is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin to form ∆A′B′C′.
RideAnS [48]

Answer:

The coordinates of image are A'(-2,1), B'(1,0) and C'(-1,0).

Step-by-step explanation:

From the figure it is clear that the coordinates of triangle are A(0,0), B(1,3) and C(1,1).

∆ABC is translated 2 units down and 1 unit to the left.

(x,y)\rightarrow (x-1,y-2)

A(0,0)\rightarrow (0-1,0-2)=(-1,-2)

B(1,3)\rightarrow (1-1,3-2)=(0,1)

C(1,1)\rightarrow (1-1,1-2)=(0,-1)

Then it is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin to form ∆A′B′C′.

(x,y)\rightarrow (y,-x)

(-1,-2)\rightarrow A'(-2,1)

(0,1)\rightarrow B'(1,0)

(0,-1)\rightarrow C'(-1,0)

Therefore the coordinates of image are A'(-2,1), B'(1,0) and C'(-1,0).

For the wheat-yield distribution of Exercise 4.3.5, find
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

a) 90.695 lb

b) 85.305 lb

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 88, \sigma = 7

(a) The 65th percentile

X when Z has a pvalue of 0.65. So X when Z = 0.385.

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

0.385 = \frac{X - 88}{7}

X - 88 = 7*0.385

X = 90.695

(b) The 35th percentile

X when Z has a pvalue of 0.35. So X when Z = -0.385.

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

-0.385 = \frac{X - 88}{7}

X - 88 = 7*(-0.385)

X = 85.305

For a specific location in a particularly rainy city, the time a new thunderstorm begins to produce rain (first drop time) is un
ikadub [295]

Answer:

b) 0.0608

Step-by-step explanation:

As it is mentioned that the next two days i.e 24 hours, the probability of the rain is uniformly distributed

Therefore the rain probability is

= \frac{T}{24}

where,

T = Length of the time interval

Plus, as we know that rain is independent

So let us assume the rain between the 8: 40 AM and 2: 35 PM on single day is P1 and the time interval is 5 hours 55 minutes

i.e

= 5.91666 hours long.

So, P1 should be

= \frac{5.91666}{24}

= 0.2465

Now we assume the probability of rain on day 2 is P2

So it would be same  i.e 0.2465

Since these events are independent

So, the total probability is

= 0.2465 \times 0.2465

= 0.0608

Hence, the b option is correct

John took all his money from his savings account. He spent $110 on a radio and 4/11 of what was left on presents for his friend
svp [43]

Answer:

$1210

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be total amount

First John spent $110 on a radio and 4/11 of what was left on presents for his friends so he was left with

\frac{7}{11}(x-110)=\frac{7}{11}x-70

Then he put 2/5 of his remaining money into a checking account

\frac{3}{5}\left(\frac{7}{11}x-70\right)

Rest he donated to charity

420=\frac{3}{5}\left(\frac{7}{11}x-70\right)\\\Rightarrow \left(\frac{7}{11}x-70\right)=\frac{2100}{3}\\\Rightarrow \frac{7}{11}x-70=700\\\Rightarrow \frac{7}{11}x=770\\\Rightarrow x=1210

Hence total amount of money John originally had was $1210
