Mg + Fe2O3→ Fe +mgO

The coefficients needed to balance the reaction above is 3, 1,2,3

the reaction is a single replacement reaction/ single displacement reaction

The balanced equation is is therefore

= 3Mg + Fe2O3 → 2Fe + 3MgO

 • The equation above is balanced since it obey the law of mass conservation. that is the number of atom in side of reactant is equal to number of atoms in product side.
 • for example there is 3 atoms of Mg in reactant side and 3 atoms of Mg in product side.

The reaction is a single replacement reaction because Mg replaces Fe from its compound.

Write a balanced half-reaction describing the reduction of aqueous chromium(IV) cations to solid chromium.
Aliun [14]

The balanced half-reaction: Cr⁴⁺(aq)+ 4e⁻ → Cr(s).

Chromium(IV) cations gain four electrons and became solid chromium with neutral charge.
Reduction is lowering oxidation number because element or ions gain electrons.

Oxidation reaction is increasing of oxidation number of element, because element or ion lost electrons in chemical reaction.

27. Scott travels north 5 miles and then goes west 3 miles before coming straight back south 2 miles. What is his distance? *
belka [17]

Scott traveled 10 miles in his journey.

Explanation:

Scott first travels 5 miles in north direction, then he turns to west and covers 3 miles distance finally he turns to south and travels 2 miles. We need to find the total distance covered by the Scott. To find the distance we should sum up all the distances he covered in three directions 5 miles north + 3 miles west + 2 miles south = 10 miles.

Therefore we can conclude that the total distance traveled by the Scott is 10 miles.
