He is 39 because 3+9=12, and next year he would be 40. 4+0=4, and 12 is 3 times larger than 4. He's old.

Solution:

we are given that

“If you add the digits that make my age this year, you’ll get a number three times bigger than if you do it next year.”

Let the first digit of the father's age be x and the second digit be y

Then we can write

x+y= 3(x + y + 1) \\
\\
x+y= 3(x + y) + 3\\

3(x+y)-(x+y)=-3\\
\\
2(x+y)=-3\\
\\
(x+y)=-3/2\\
\\

Since  x + y cannot be negative,

So we can again write

x + y = 3(x + 1 + y - 9) \\
\\
x+y= 3(x + y - 8) \\
\\
x+y= 3(x + y) - 24

2(x+y)=24\\
\\
x+y=12\\

Hence  age of the father is 39.

An element with mass 430 grams decays by 27.4% per minute. How much of the element is remaining after 19 minutes, to the nearest
nadya68 [22]
The equation for exponential decay is y=a*b^x, where <em>a</em> is the initial amount, <em>b</em> = 1 + <em>r</em> (the growth rate as a decimal number) and <em>x</em> is the number of time periods (in this case, minutes).  Substituting the information we have:
y=430(1+-0.274)^1^9&#10;\\=430(1-0.274)^1^9&#10;\\=430(0.726)^1^9=0.98.  To the nearest tenth of a gram, this would be 1.0 grams.

Here is a scale drawing of a window frame that uses a scale of 1 cm to 6 inches.Create another scale drawing of the window frame
Tresset [83]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Below is the rectangle in the attachment.

Current scale:

1 cm : 6 inches

If the dimensions of the rectangle is:

Length = a cm

Width = b cm

Using the scale:

Length = a × 6 inches

Width = b × 6 inches

Using the same dimensions of the rectangle is:

Length = a cm

Width = b cm

Using the scale:

Length = a × 12 inches

Width = b × 12 inches

Note that there is an enlargement of the rectangle to form the new rectangle. The length and width of new rectangle drawn will be 2 × the length and width of the rectangle seen below.
