Since the triangle formed is similar, then the ratio of the triangle height(horizontal distance) and the base of the triangle(the person and image height) will be same. The calculation would be:

a/b= c/d
16in / (4ft + 8in)= c/ (5ft + 3in)
16in/(48in + 8in)= c/ (60in + 3 in)
16in/64in= c/63in
c=1/4 * 63 in= 15.75 in= 16inch

Answer:

The height of the image is 18 inch.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that the light entering the opening reflects his image on the wall, forming similar triangles.

We know that

1 ft =12 inch

The height of person is

5\text{ ft }3\text{ in}=5\times 12+3=63\text{ in}

The distance of person form the wall is

4\text{ ft }8\text{ in}=4\times 12+8=56\text{ in}

The distance of image form the wall is 16 in.

Let the height of image be x.

The corresponding sides of similar triangles are proportional.

\frac{x}{16}=\frac{63}{56}

x=\frac{63}{56}\times 16

x=18

Therefore the height of the image is 18 inch.

A lake contains 4 distinct types of fish. Suppose that each fish caught is equally likely to be any one of these types. Let Y de
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

a) P(μ-k*σ≤ Y ≤ μ+k*σ ) ≥ 0.90

a= μ-3.16*σ , b= μ+3.16*σ

b) P(Y≥ μ+3*σ ) ≥ 0.90

b= μ+3*σ

Step-by-step explanation:

from Chebyshev's inequality for Y

P(| Y - μ|≤ k*σ ) ≥ 1-1/k²

where

Y =  the number of fish that need be caught to obtain at least one of each type

μ = expected value of Y

σ = standard deviation of Y

P(| Y - μ|≤ k*σ ) = probability that Y is within k standard deviations from the mean

k= parameter

thus for

P(| Y - μ|≤ k*σ ) ≥ 1-1/k²

P{a≤Y≤b} ≥ 0.90 →  1-1/k² = 0.90 → k = 3.16

then

P(μ-k*σ≤ Y ≤ μ+k*σ ) ≥ 0.90

using one-sided Chebyshev inequality (Cantelli's inequality)

P(Y- μ≥ λ) ≥ 1- σ²/(σ²+λ²)

P{Y≥b} ≥ 0.90  →  1- σ²/(σ²+λ²)=  1- 1/(1+(λ/σ)²)=0.90 → 3= λ/σ → λ= 3*σ

then for

P(Y≥ μ+3*σ ) ≥ 0.90

If r is the midpoint of qs rs=2x-4, st= 4x-1 and rt = 8x-43 find qs
sammy [17]

Answer:

QS=68\ units

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1

Find the value of x

we know that

r is the midpoint of qs

so

QR=RS

QS=QR+RS------> QS=2RS -----> equation A

RT=RS+ST ----> equation B

see the attached figure to better understand the problem

Substitute the given values in the equation B and solve for x

8x-43=(2x-4)+(4x-1)

8x-43=6x-5

8x-6x=43-5

2x=38

x=19

step 2

Find the value of RS

RS=2x-4

substitute the value of x

RS=2(19)-4

RS=34\ units

step 3

Find the value of QS

Remember equation A

QS=2RS

so

QS=2(34)=68\ units

IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

SP = Quadrant 3    FP = Quadrant  4

Step-by-step explanation:

sp =  (−5.4, 3) fp (3, −5.4)  this means the line is decreasing as point y coordinate  changes fro 3 to 5.4 and will be a negative slope gradient- The quadrants at top left to right are 3 and 1  and bottom left to right is 2 and 4  Labels are Quadrant 3 = R      Quadrant 1 = P  Quadrant 2 = Q  Quadrant 4 = S The starting point is Left top side as y is positive and can only be 3 or 1 and x is negative      SP = Quadrant 3    The finishing point is bottom quadrants as y is negative this time and x is positive      FP = Quadrant  4   You can remember that it is often start of origin then quadrant 1 in straight line positive colorations
