Answer: The correct statements are the electrons in the outermost energy level are primarily responsible for the properties of an element and additional electrons after argon begin to fill a sub level of the n = 4 energy level.

Explanation:

Valence electrons are defined as the electrons which are present in the outermost shell of an element. It determines the chemical properties for an element.

The elements having same number of valence electrons show similar chemical properties and thus are groups in same Group.

Reactivity is defined as the tendency for an element to gain and loose electrons. This is determined by the number of valence electrons in an element.

Thus, the correct statements are the electrons in the outermost energy level are primarily responsible for the properties of an element and additional electrons after argon begin to fill a sub level of the n = 4 energy level.

Elements in group four of the periodic table have 4 energy levels in their configuration. Argon is the last element in the period. In this case i believe, the electrons in the outermost energy level are primarily responsible for the properties of an element. Additional electrons after argon begin to fill a sub level of the n=4 energy level.

Which of these was not proposed by john dalton in 1805?
wel

Answer:

Atoms are made of protons, neutrons and electrons.

Explanation:

The Dalton's atomic theory was an early attempt at describing the properties of atoms. It stipulated that atoms were the smallest indivisible particle of a substance. Chemical reactions occur as a result of a combination or separation of atoms. Atoms of the same element are exactly alike and differ from atoms of other elements. Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed.

As time went on, modern scientific evidence began to modify the original postulates of the Dalton's atomic theory. It was not postulated in 1805 that atoms were composed of subatomic particles; electrons, neutrons and protons. Dalton's theory held the atom to be 'indivisible'. However in 1897, JJ Thompson discovered the electron. Subsequently, the proton and neutrons were discovered. This shows that the atom in itself consisted of even smaller particles.

Describe how you could determine the specific heat of a sample of a solid substance. You may assume that the substance does not
lesya692 [45]
I would measure the mass of the solid substance. I would prepare a known mass of room temperature water large enough to submerge the solid substance in question. I would place the water in an insulated container. Then I would heat the solid substance to a known temperature. I would measure the temperature of the heated sample and the water. Then I would submerge the sample in the water and allow the sample and the water to reach the same temperature. I would measure this equilibrium temperature. I would interpret the difference in temperature between the heated sample and the equilibrium temperature as the change in temperature in the sample. Given the known mass, the beginning temperature of the water, and the equilibrium temperature I can determine how much energy was transferred from the heated sample to the water. Now the mass of the sample, a change in temperature in the solid substance, and the amount of energy transferred to create the temperature is known. This is sufficient to determine the specific heat of the solid substance

27. Scott travels north 5 miles and then goes west 3 miles before coming straight back south 2 miles. What is his distance? *
belka [17]

Scott traveled 10 miles in his journey.

Explanation:

Scott first travels 5 miles in north direction, then he turns to west and covers 3 miles distance finally he turns to south and travels 2 miles. We need to find the total distance covered by the Scott. To find the distance we should sum up all the distances he covered in three directions 5 miles north + 3 miles west + 2 miles south = 10 miles.

Therefore we can conclude that the total distance traveled by the Scott is 10 miles.

How many moles of O2 should be supplied to burn 1 mol of C3H8 (propane) molecules in a camping stove
Shkiper50 [21]
The combustion of any hydrocarbon yields water and carbon dioxide. We will now construct a balanced equation:

C₃H₈ + 5O₂ → 3CO₂ + 4H₂O

Each mole of propane requires 5 moles of oxygen.
