Answer:

Perimeter of the resulting rectangle is 90 in .

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula

Perimeter of Rectangle =  2 (Length + Breadth)

As given

A rectangle has a perimeter of 36 in.

Let us assume that the length of the rectangle be l .

Let us assume that the breadth of the rectangle be b .

Thus

36 =  2 (l + b)

The length and width are scaled by a factor 2.5.

Thus

Length becomes  =  2.5l

Breadth becomes  = 2.5b

Putting in the formula

Perimeter of Rectangle =  2 (2.5l+2.5b)

                                       = 2 × 2.5 (l + b)

                                       = 2.5 × 2 (l+b)

 (As  given the perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l + b) = 36)

                                       =  2.5 × 36

                                       = 90 in

Therefore the perimeter of the resulting rectangle is 90 in .

No, having the greater rate of change does not mean a function will necessarily reach an output with the smallest input. It also depends on the initial values of the functions. If Jeremy's aunt lives closer to school, Jeremy's rate of change is smaller, but he could still get to school before Amy.
