We can model the scenario like this (keep in mind that 150 grams is .15 kilograms):

\frac{39}{.5} = \frac{x}{60(.15)}

\frac{39}{.5} = \frac{x}{9}

39 cents buys .5 kilograms, x cents buys 9 kilograms (60 servings of .15 kilograms).  We now have our answer for Part A; Julia needs to buy 9 kg of watermelon.  Now, we just have to use cross multiplication to solve for x.

39*9 = .5x

351 = .5x

x = 702

9 kilograms of watermelon cost 702 cents.  702 cents is equivalent to $7.02, so the watermelon will cost $7.02.

<u>One serving:</u>
1 serving = 150g

<u>Find 60 servings:</u>
60 servings = 150 x 60 = 9000g = 9kg

(a) Julia will need to buy 9kg of watermelon.

\dfrac{1}{2} \text{ kg} \longrightarrow 39 \text{ cents}

<u>Find 1 kg:</u>
1 \text{ kg} \longrightarrow 39 \times 2 \text{ cents}

1 \text{ kg} \longrightarrow 78 \text{ cents}

<u>Find 9 kg:</u>
9 \text{ kg} \longrightarrow 78  \times 9 \text{ cents}

9 \text{ kg} \longrightarrow 702 \text{ cents or } \$7.02

Answer: The watermelon will cost $7.02

En una cancha se va a pintar la circunferencia central que tiene un diámetro de 5 m .¿cual es la longitud de la circunferencia?
Alona [7]

Answer:

The length of the circumference is 5\pi\ m  or 15.70\ m

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>The question in English is</em></u>

On a court, the central circumference will be painted, which has a diameter of 5 m. What is the length of the circumference?

we know that

The circumference of a circle is given by the formula

C=\pi D

we have

D=5\ m

substitute

C=\pi (5)\\C=5\pi\ m

This is the exact value

assume

\pi=3.24

C=5(3.14)=15.70\ m

Lin multiplies 7/8 times a number. The product is less than 7/8. Which could be Lin’s number?
RSB [31]

Answer:

So, the number that Lin multiplied by 7/8 MUST be less than 1. This is evident, as any positive number multiplied by a number less than 1 will decrease, doesn't matter if its a negative or positive number.

12x−39≤9 AND−4x+3&lt;−6, just solving for x<br><br> please answer ASAP
kari74 [83]

<u>Answer:</u>

Solving for x in 12x − 39 ≤ 9 and −4x + 3 < −6 we get 2.25 < x ≤ 4

<u>Solution</u>:

Need to find the value of x which satisfies following two given expressions

12x − 39 ≤ 9      ------(1)

−4x + 3 < −6     ------ (2)

Lets first solve expression (1)

12x − 39 ≤ 9

Adding 39 on both sides , we get

12x−39 + 39  ≤ 9  +39

=>12x ≤ 48

=> x  ≤ 48/12

=> x ≤ 4

Now solving expression (2)

−4x+3<−6

=> -4x < -6 – 3

=> -4x < -9

=> 4x > 9

=> x > 9/4

=> x > 2.25

So from solution of expression (1) and (2) , we get x ≤ 4   and x > 2.25

Hence required value of x is 2.25 < x ≤ 4.

A retired woman has $40,000 to invest. She has chosen one relatively safe investment fund that has an annual yield of 9% and ano
nalin [4]

She should invest $30000 in the 9% fund and $10000 in the 13% fund.

<u><em>Explanation</em></u>

Suppose, the amount of investment at 9% rate is  x dollar.

As the total amount of investment is $40000 , so the investment at 13% rate will be: (40000-x) dollar

So, the amount of earnings per year from 9% fund = 0.09x dollar

and the amount of earnings per year from 13% fund = 0.13(40000-x) dollar.

Given that, the <u>total earnings per year is $4000</u>. So the equation will be......

0.09x+0.13(40000-x)=4000\\ \\ 0.09x+5200-0.13x=4000\\ \\ -0.04x=4000-5200\\ \\ -0.04x= -1200\\ \\ x= \frac{-1200}{-0.04}=30000

So, the amount of investment at 9% fund is $30000 and the amount of investment at 13% fund = ($40000- $30000)= $10000
