He is exhibiting the logical error known as "delay discounting".

Delay discounting refers to the decrease in the present estimation of a reward with postponement to its receipt. Over an assortment of animal groups, populaces, and reward composes, esteem decreases hyperbolically with delay. Value decreases steeply with shorter postponements, however more shallowly with longer deferrals.

sladkih [1.3K]

Answer:

The probability of having a child with this disease is still a 50% one

Explanation:

The parents are wrong here supposing that their next child would inherit the autosomal dominant disorder gen. This could have well happened with their first-born but it didn't, and so it may or may not happen with their second child.

In an autosomal dominant disorder, there is one mutated gen that is dominant (it is located on one of the nonsex chromosomes). A person that carries a mutated gen has a 50% probability of passing this gen to their offspring. This is regardless of the number of children they had had before.

katovenus [111]
Geographic location is definitely one of those factors. I live in Europe, and have lived there my entire life, as my parents have before me, and their ancestors, so I believe that those people who decided to move here in Europe would definitely do that because of the location. I am surrounded by many important European countries and my country itself has an abundance of everything.

This takes me to the second reason, which are the resources - my country is rich in many natural resources, which my ancestors would definitely want to have around because where there are resources, there are jobs and life in general.
