The average rate of change (m) is the ratio of the change in function value to the width of the interval:
  m = (f(6) - f(2))/(6 - 2)

To compute this, we need to compute f(6) and f(2).
  f(6) = (0.25*6 -0.5)*6 +3.5 = 9.5
  f(2) = (0.25*2 - 0.5)*2 +3.5 = 3.5
Then the average rate of change is
  m = (9.5 - 3.5)/(6 - 2) = 6/4 = 1.5

The average rate of change is 1.5 thousand owners per year.

Hi there!

• f(6) = (0.25 × 6 - 0.5) × 6 + 3.5 = 9.5
• f(2) = (0.25 × 2 - 0.5) × 2 × 3.5 = 3.5

Th' average rate of change (m) is the ratio of th' change in function value w.r.t width of the Interval.

Acc'rding to rhe question :-

m = \dfrac {f(6) - f(2)}{6 - 2}

m = \dfrac {9.5 - 3.5}{6 - 2}

m = \dfrac {6}{4} = \dfrac {3}{2} = 1.5

Hence,
The required answer is 1.5 thousand owners per year.

~ Hope it helps!

lubasha [3.4K]
If there's 100 cookies, of which there are 40 oatmeal raisin and 10 sugar cookies, there are 50 out of 100 cookies which you want. Hence by chance, there is a 50/100, or 1 in 2 chance of you obtaining an oatmeal raisin or a sugar cookie.

alexdok [17]
Care to elaborate, what I can say right now is just that a virus is a malicious program that invades your computer and multiplies itself across several programs and folders. a viral video is only similar because it becomes really popular across the internet and "spreads" throughout the internet by fame. hope that help... oh and id say this is more of a computers question.
