\frac{1}{3}  \times x = 4.32 \\ x = 4.32 \div  \frac{1}{3}  \\ x = 12.96 \\ y =   \frac{2}{3}  \times x \\ y =  \frac{2}{3}  \times 12.96 \\ y = 8.64

Answer with explanation:

Let weekly allowance of Mary = $ a

Expenditure of Mary

→Spent a third of her weekly allowance playing arcade games.

→ $ 4.32 is spent on Candy.

⇒Writing the expression for amount of money Mary has

 Let b be the amount of Money left with Mary after the expenditure.

    \Rightarrow b=a -(\frac{a}{3}+4.32)\\\\\Rightarrow b=a -\frac{a}{3}-4.32\\\\\Rightarrow b=\frac{2a}{3}-4.32

Tamiku [17]
Ni : Zn: Cu = 7:2:9 =7x : 2x : 9x

7x+2x+9x = 3.8
18x=3.8
x=3.8/18=1.9/9≈0.21

Ni:   7x=7*0.21=1.47 ≈1.5 kg
Zn:  2x=2*0.21=0.42≈0.4 kg
Cu: 9x=9*0.21=1.89 ≈1.9 kg

Check 1.5+0.4+1.9 =3.8 True
