Let x represent the number of red marbles, then blue marbles are represented by x + 31

red +  blue  = 225

x    +  x + 31  =  225

2x + 31 = 225

2x = 194

 x = 97

Blue: x + 31 = 97 + 31  = 128

Answer: 128 blue marbles

225-35=194/2 because there is two colors red and blue you divide it and then answer is 97 and then you add  35+97=132 so there are 132 blue marbles

Evaluate the series shown. Then write an equivalent series using summation notation such that the lower index starts at 0.
Vitek1552 [10]
The summation indicates the sum from n = 1 to n = 3 of the expression 2(n+5).

2 (n+5) = 2n + 10

2n + 10 denotes an Arithmetic Series, with a common difference of two and first term as 12.

For n =1, it equals 12
For n = 2, it equals 14
For n = 3, it equals 16

So the sum from n=1 to n=3 will be 12 + 14 + 16 = 42

Sum of an Arithmetic Series can also be written as:

S_{n} = \frac{n}{2}(2a_{1} +(n-1)d)

Using the value of a₁ and d, we can simplify the expression as:

S_{n} = \frac{n}{2} (24+2(n-1)) \\  \\
 S_{n} =n (12+(n-1))\\  \\
 S_{n} =n (11+n)

This expression is equivalent to the given expression and will yield the same result.

For n=3, we get the sum as:

S₃ = 3(11+3) = 42

artcher [175]

Answer:

Cost of travel insurance for 4 days = 19 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

The insurance company uses the formula T = 3.5n + 5 to work out the cost , T pounds for  insuring the customer for n number of days . Where n is the number of days.

The algebraic equation given has two variables which are cost T of insuring and n which is the number of days for insuring. Mathematically,

T = cost of insuring in pounds

n = number of days

Therefore, finding the cost T for 4 days

T = 3.5n + 5

T = 3.5 × 4 + 5

T = 14 + 5

T = 19 pounds

Cost of travel insurance for 4 days = 19 pounds

aev [14]

Answer:

The expression that is equivalent to the given expression is:

              5x+60

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that:

if you add 12 marshmallows to each of 5 bags of marshmallows, and each bag started with the same number of marshmallows.

so, let x be the initial number of marshmallows in each bag and now 12 are added to each bag this means that the number of marshmallows in each bag is:

                  x+12

Hence, total number of marshmallows in 5 bags is:

      5(x+12)=5×x+5×12

     5(x+12)=5x+60

        Hence, the answer is:

                    5x+60
