To what final concentration of NH3 must a solution be adjusted to just dissolve 0.060mol of NiC2O4 (Ksp = 4×10−10) in 1.0 L of s

olution? (Hint: You can neglect the hydrolysis of C2O42− because the solution will be quite basic.)

In this problem ,we are given with the solubility constant of nickel dichromate which when dissolved in ammonia results to dichromate ion and nickel ion. In this case, with the given initial concentration 0.06 M, the equation becomes. 4x10^-10 = x^2/ (0.06-x) where c is the final concentration of NH3. x is equal to 4.89 x 10^-6 M.

Use the internet or your textbook as a reference to compare and contrast the Arrhenius Theory of acids and bases vs. the Brønste
Readme [11.4K]

Answer and Explanation:

1. Arrhenius Theory which describes the concept protonic. The substance that gives H+ ions when diluted in water is called as an acid (e.g. HCl) and the substance that dissociates OH-ions whenever it is diluted in water is called as the base (e.g. NaOH)

on the other hand

Bronsted Lowery Theory describes the concept of a proton donor-acceptor. The proton-donating species is an acid and the proton-accepting species is known as a base.

2. The Chemical name and nature of acid is shown below:-

Nature Chemical Name

a. HCl Acidic Hydrochloric Acid

b. KOH Basic Potassium hydroxide

c. HNO Acidic Nitric Acid

d. Mg(OH)2 Basic Magnesium hydroxide

Perform the following calculations and give your answer with the correct number of significant figures:
Arte-miy333 [17]
When multiplying numbers, the term with the least significant digits gives how many significant digits will be in the answer. 2.995 has the least with 4 "sig figs", so the answer will have 4 significant digits as well:

2.995/0.16685 = 17.9502547198
                           ↑↑  ↑↑
                        4 sig figs

So the answer is 17.95.

SOVA2 [1]

Answer:

4702.5 J/g*k

Explanation:

Many plants are poisonous because their stems and leaves contain oxalic acid, H2C2O4, or sodium oxalate, Na2C2O4. When ingested,
Neporo4naja [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

Calcium chloride is a soluble salt which dissociates into calcium and chloride ions when dissolved in water.

CaCl₂(aq) ----> Ca²⁺(aq) + 2Cl⁻(aq)

Similarly, sodium oxalate when dissolved in water dissociates into sodium and oxalate ions.

Na₂CO₄(aq) ----> 2Na⁺(aq) + C₂O₄²⁻(aq)

However, in a double displacement reaction where the two solutions of the salts are mixed, the insoluble salt calcium oxalate is precipitated. The net ionic equation for the reaction is shown below:

Ca²⁺(aq) + C₂O₄²⁻(aq) ----> CaC₂O₄(s)
