Why is glycolysis described as having an energy investment phase and an energy payoff phase? Why is glycolysis described as havi

ng an energy investment phase and an energy payoff phase? Early steps consume energy from ATP and NADH, and later steps store an equal amount of energy in ATP and NAD+. Early steps consume energy from ATP, and later steps store an increased amount of energy in ATP and NADH. The answer is; Early steps consume energy from ATP, and later steps store an increased amount of energy in ATP and NADH

In the initial stage (energy consuming), 2 ATPs and consumed to convert glucose to the high energy fructose-1,6 biphosphate. The fructose-1,6 biphosphate is later split into 2 glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G3P). In the energy-releasing phase, each G3P is used to generate 2 ATPs and an NADH are released. Therefore, there is a net positive energy of 2 ATPs and 2 NADHs.

Predict how the sympathetic reflexes controlling blood vessels would respond to a sudden decrease in blood pressure
Goryan [66]
Baroreceptors are special receptors that detect changes in your blood pressure. Important baroreceptors are found in the aorta and the carotid sinus. If the blood pressure within the aorta or carotid sinus increases, the walls of the arteries stretch and stimulate increased activity within the baroreceptors.

Sperm cells swim through liquid. Explain how a sperm cell is adapted to reduce friction as it swims.
Savatey [412]

Answer:

Long tail and narrow head.

Explanation:

A sperm cell is adapted to reduce friction as it swims by having long head, narrow tail and enzymes. These features of sperm provides ability to swim straight to the egg cell. Long tail helps the sperm cell to swim towards the egg cell, narrow head of sperm cell make the sperm cell for faster swimming towards the egg cell and enzymes present in the head of the sperm helps break through the egg cell membrane so we can say that the long tail and narrow head of sperm cells helps in faster swimming.
