We need draw the structure of (3E,5E)-2,5-dibromo-3,5-octadiene.

The structure is shown below:

The molecule has two double bonds in 3 and 5 position and two Br-atoms attached to 2 and 5 position.

The configuration is 3E and 5E. E configuration indicates cis- isomers where similar groups are in same side with respect to double bonds.

For the reaction: MgF2(s) ⇌ Mg2+(aq) + 2F- (aq), Ksp= 6.4 × 10-9, the addition of 0.10 M NaF to the solution cause what effect o
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

Shifts the equilibrium to the left. reduces solubility.

Explanation:

  • MgF2(s) ↔ Mg2+(aq) + 2F-(aq)

          S S 2S

∴ Ksp = 6.4 E-9 = [ Mg2+ ] * [ F- ]² = S * (2S)²

⇒ 4S² * S = 6.4 E-9

⇒ 4S³ = 6.4 E-9

⇒ S³ = 1.6 E-9

⇒ S = 1.1696 E-3 M

  • NaF(s) → Na+(aq) + F-(aq)

        0.10M 0.10M 0.10M

  • MgF2(s) ↔ Mg2+(aq) + 2F-(aq)

          S' S' 2S' + 0.10

⇒ Ksp = 6.4 E-9 = (S')*(2S' + 0.10)²

If we compare the concentration (0.10 M) of the ion with Ksp ( 6.4 E-9 ); thne we can neglect S' as adding:

⇒ 6.4 E-9 = (S')*(0.10)² = 0.01S'

⇒ S' = 6.4 E-7 M

∴ % S' = ( 6.4 E-7 / 0.1 )*100 = 6.4 E-4% <<< 5%, we can make the assumption

We can observe that S >> S' ( 1.1696 E-3 M >> 6.4 E-7 M ), which shows that the solubility is reduced by the efect of the common ion from the salt, which causes the equilibrium to shift to the left, precipitating part of MgF2(s).

Consider the following properties: I) The red color of rubies is due to the presence of chromium ions. II) Objects made of silve
Alenkinab [10]

Answer:

Only II) is correct

Explanation:

I) The red color of the rubies is a physical property of its own structure (wich contains chromium ions)

II)Objects made of silver become tarnished not by a physical property, but as the result of a chemical reaction on the surface of the object made of silver in combination with the sulfur in the air

2Ag_{(s)}+S\rightarrow Ag_{2}S

This changes the color of the object to black, (similar to the iron oxidation)

iii)Boiling is a physical change where a liquid substance absorbs heat in some way (e.g. a flame) and becomes a gas

If 1.0 mole of CH4 and 2.0 moles of Cl2 are used in the reaction CH4 + 4Cl2 => CCl4 + 4HCl then which of these statements is
nikklg [1K]

Answer:

B,C,D

Explanation:

The yield of CCl4 depends on the amount of CH4 in a 1:1 ratio. The amount of Cl2 is twice that of CH4 hence some must be left over. To ensure that all the Cl2 is used up, more CH4 must added to the system.
