Jessica is visiting a park with her mother. Jessica sits on a swing. Her mother pulls the swing to a height of 3 meters above th

e ground and lets it go. The image shows Jessica at three positions on the swing. Jessica‘s mass is 44 kilograms and the maximum velocity of the swing is 5 meters/second. What’s the energy she has at each position shown? Ignore friction and air resistance. Use g = 9.8 m/s2, PE = m × g × h, and KE = 0 joules KE = 550 joules PE = 862.4 joules

You are given Jessica's height of the swing 3 meters above the ground, velocity at 5m/s²  and her mass of 44 kilograms. Since there is no image given, I will assume that the position at maximum and minimum height, that is 3 and 0 meters.

Position at maximum height

PE = mgh

PE = 44 kg *9.8m/s²*3

PE = 1,294 J

Position at minimum height

PE = 0 J

Position at maximum velocity

KE = 1/2*mv²

KE = 1/2*44 kg*(5m/s²)²

KE = 550 J

Position at minimum velocity

KE = 0 J

A 150 g particle at x = 0 is moving at 8.00 m/s in the +x-direction. As it moves, it experiences a force given by Fx=(0.850N)sin
krok68 [10]

Answer:

9.98 m/s

Explanation:

The force acting on the particle is defined by the equation:

F=(0.850) sin (\frac{x}{2.00}) [N]

where x is the position in metres.

The acceleration can be found by using Newton's second law:

a=\frac{F}{m}

where

m = 150 g = 0.150 kg is the mass of the particle. Substituting into the equation,

a=\frac{0.850}{0.150}sin (\frac{x}{2.00})=5.67 sin(\frac{x}{2.00}) [m/s^2]

When x = 3.14 m, the acceleration is:

a=5.67 sin(\frac{3.14}{2.00})=5.67 m/s^2

Now we can find the final speed of the particle by using the suvat equation:

v^2-u^2=2ax

where

u = 8.00 m/s is the initial velocity

v is the final velocity

a=5.67 m/s^2

x = 3.14 m is the displacement

Solving for v,

v=\sqrt{u^2+2ax}=\sqrt{8.00^2+2(5.67)(3.14)}=9.98 m/s

And the speed is just the magnitude of the velocity, so 9.98 m/s.

A charge of uniform volume density (40 nC/m3) fills a cube with 8.0-cm edges. What is the total electric flux through the surfac
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

The flux through the surface of the cube is 2.314\ Nm^{2}/C

Solution:

As per the question:

Edge of the cube, a = 8.0 cm = 8.0\times 10^{- 2}\ m

Volume Charge density, \rho_{v} = 40 nC/m^{3} = 40\times {- 9}\ C/m^{3}

Now,

To calculate the electric flux:

\phi = \frac{q}{\epsilon_{o}}                                                      (1)

where

\phi = electric flux

\epsilon_{o} = 8.85\times 10^{- 12}\ F/m = permittivity of free space

Volume Charge density for the given case is given by the formula:

\rho_{v} = \frac{Total\ charge, q}{Volume of cube, V}                  (2)

Volume of cube, V = a^{3}

Thus

V = (8.0\times 10^{- 2})^{3} = 5.12\times 10^{- 4}\ m^{3}

Thus from eqn (2), the total charge is given by:

q = \rho_{v}V = 40\times {- 9}\times 5.12\times 10^{- 4}

q = 2.048\times 10^{-11}\ F = 20.48\ pF

Now, substitute the value of 'q' in eqn (1):

\phi = \frac{2.048\times 10^{-11}}{8.85\times 10^{- 12}} = 2.314\ Nm^{2}/C

What is the explanation for how a modern transmission electron microscope (TEM) can achieve a resolution of about 0.2 nanometers
IgorC [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

A simple light microscope uses light for imaging of objects where as a transmission electron microscope uses a monochromatic beam of electrons.

This beam is passed by a magnetic field which is very strong and thus act as a lens.

Its resolution of very high which is about 0.2 nanometers because of the separation between two atoms.

Because of this reason its resolution is about 1000 times greater than light microscope.
