1 nickel = $0.05
1 dime = $0.10

n - number of nickels
7n - number of dimes

A equation:

0.05n + 0.1 · 7n = 5.25
0.05n + 0.7n = 5.25
0.75n = 5.25          |divide both sides by 0.75
n = 7

Answer: He have 7 nickels.

Let dimes be represented by d and n for nickels;
1 dime= 0.1 dollars
1 nickel=0.05 dollars
0.1d+0.05n=5.25
d=7n
so,
0.1(7n)+0.05n=5.25
0.7n+0.05n=5.25
0.75n=5.25
n=7
There are 7 nickels and 49 dimes

A frequency distribution is a tabular summary of data showing the a. number of items in several classes. b. relative percentage
Viefleur [7K]

Answer:

The answer is a: Number of items in several classes.

Step-by-step explanation:

Frequency distributions are tables that represent the number of times a specific data, number object etc appears in a sample. So for example if we have this data

2,2,4,4,6,6,6,8,8,10

The frequency distributions is

Number   frequency

2                  2

4                  2

6                  3

8                   2

10                  1

The other options are identical (c and are the same as percentages can be expressed as fractions. Relative percentages or fractions are  tables that express the weight that each category has in the entire data. An example for our data would be: (10 are the total number of obs)

Number             Fraction/%

2                          2/10 or 20%

4                         2/10 or 20%

6                          3/10 or 30%

8                           2/10 or 20%

10                            1/10 or 10%

A baby otter was born 3/4 of a month early. At birth it's weight was 7/8 kilograms which is 9/10 kilogram less than the average
Assoli18 [71]

Answer:

The average weight of new born otter was, 1\frac{31}{40}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let average weight of new born otter be x.

As per the given statement: At birth it's weight was 7/8 kilograms which is 9/10 kilogram less than the average weight of a new born otter in the aquarium

"\frac{9}{10} kg less than average weight of a new born otter" means x-\frac{9}{10}

As per the given information, we have;

\frac{7}{8} = x -\frac{9}{10}

Add  \frac{9}{10} both sides, we have;

\frac{7}{8} + \frac{9}{10} = x

Take LCM of 8 and 10 is, 40

⇒\frac{35+36}{40}=x

Simplify:

x = \frac{71}{40} = 1\frac{31}{40}

Therefore, the average weight of new born otter was, 1\frac{31}{40}

jalil and Victoria are each asked to solve the equation ax – c = bx + d for x. Jalil says it is not possible to isolate x becaus
Pie

Answer:

x = \frac{d+c}{a - b}

Step-by-step explanation:

Equation: ax – c = bx + d

Jalil says it is not possible to isolate x because  x has a different unknown coefficient.

Victoria t. Victoria believes there is a solution

Solving the equation:

ax-c = bx + d

ax - bx= d+c

(a - b)x = d+c

x = \frac{d+c}{a - b}

So, this shows x can be isolated .

Victoria was right .

It was not possible to isolate x if the coefficients of x would be same .

But in the given equation the coefficients of x are not same .

So, Victoria is right.

The maximum recommended slope of wheelchair ramp is 1/12. A business installs a wheelchair ramp that rises 22inches over a horiz
Olin [163]

Given parameters:

Recommend wheelchari ramp slope  = \frac{1}{12}

Rise of the new wheel chair ramp  = 22 inches

Horizontal length  = 24feet

Unknown:

Is the ramp steeper than the recommended  = ?

Slope is the ratio of rise to the horizontal distance covered

 Mathematically;

                 Slope = \frac{Rise}{horizontal distance}

Slope of the wheel chair ramp;

                covert 24 feet to inches;

        1 foot = 12 inches

        24 feet  = 24 x `12  = 288inches

Slope  = \frac{22}{288 }   = \frac{11}{144}

The two slopes being compared are;

               \frac{1}{12}  and \frac{11}{144}

The steeper of the first one 1/12. It has a higher slope compared to the second one.

If y = 3x and 2x – 4y = 3, then x=
lozanna [386]

Answer:

x = -0.3

Step-by-step explanation:

You can substitute y in 2x – 4y = 3, to solve for x.

How to solve for x:

2x - 4(3x) = 3 (Simplify)

2x - 12x = 3 (Simplify)

-10x = 3 (Divide by -10)

x = -0.3
