Robert frost was an American poet who was born on March 26, 1874, in San Francisco.

His father, William Prescott Frost Jr., and his mother, Isabelle Moodie, had moved from Pennsylvania to California shortly after marrying. Robert’s father passed away from tuberculosis when he was eleven years old and shortly after he moved with his mother and sister, Jeanie, to Lawrence, Massachusetts. Robert became interested in reading and writing poetry during his time in high school in Lawrence. Robert enrolled at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1892, and later at Harvard University in Boston, he never earned a formal college degree. Robert married Elinor Miriam White in 1895, she was a major inspiration to him when it came to writing his poetry. They had a total of six children. The couple moved to England in 1912 because their farming failed in New Hampshire, a good thing about their move was him being able to be influenced by British poets that helped push his work forward and having it published. Robert and his wife returned to the United States three years later where his reputation was now established due to his already published work. Robert Frost died in Boston on January 29, 1963.

To begin with, Robert Frost had his works first published in England before it being put out in the United States. His work was very well praised by many and was even considered one of the greatest American poets of the century. His work was well recognized earning him some Pulitzer.

Answer:

Robert Frost is considered one of the foremost American poets of the 20th century.

Explanation:

This is the sentence that would most likely appear in the conclusion of an essay about Robert Frost. The conclusion of an essay is where the author restates the main idea of the essay. He also leaves the reader with some memorable information about the topic that was discussed so that the essay leaves a lingering impression on the mind of the reader. This sentence would successfully achieve both purposes.

Read this passage from chapter 22 of The Prince. But to enable a prince to form an opinion of his servant there is one test whic
Dominik [7]

Answer:

The answer is to convince readers that a prince must choose a trustworthy servant to represent him

Explanation:

Niccolo Machiavelli, the author of the revolutionary and controversial book, 'The Prince' wrote the passage stated in Chapter 22 to convince its readers that a prince must choose a trustworthy servant to represent him.

Machiavelli wrote that a servant is a representation or a reflection of what kind of person the prince is. He argued that although a servant is of no importance to a prince, his presence and traits will be a basis of forming an impression or an opinion about the prince.

For example, if a servant is faithful and capable, he will be known as a wise prince because he has the power and ability to make them loyal and competent. And the same goes if they are dishonest and inept, it will make him look a weak and incapable prince.

Read the excerpt from "As Good as Gold."
Wittaler [7]

There are five elements of a plot: Exposition, conflict, raising action, climax, falling action and Resolution. From these elements, the one that approaches best to that excerpt is Resolution. The word "finally" can be a signal word that denotes the ending part and Resolution means that the conflict has been solved and indicates the ending, which it really makes sense, since after all the things happened in Jake's life, at the end "I expect we'll need three servings of bacon today" refering maybe to a happy ending.

andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer: Which phrase uses the rhetorical device pathos? Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson (adapted excerpt) We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain fundamental rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it. To institute a new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to most likely affect their safety and happiness. Prudence will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly, all experience hath shown, that mankind is more disposed to suffer, while injustices are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

Read the excerpt from The Riddle of the Rosetta Stone, by James Cross Giblin.
Roman55 [17]

Answer:

A: Positive attitude toward Young's passion for learning.

Explanation:

Throughout the passage, Giblin speaks of Young's accomplishments with high praise (never in a negative way, like answers C & D suggest). B is also incorrect because Giblin does not only focus on Young's ability to learn new languages, he speaks of other things as well.

Therefore, option A is correct - Giblin shows a positive attitude toward Young's passion for learning.
