Answer:

The ionization energy (in kJ/mol) of the helium ion is 21,004.73 kJ/mol .

Explanation:

E_n = -(2.18 10-18 J)\times \frac{Z^2}{n^2}

Z = atomic mass

n = principal quantum number

Energy of the electron in n=1,

E_1= -(2.18 10^{-18} J)\times \frac{4^2}{1^2}=-3.488\times 10^{-17} J

Energy of the electron in n = ∞

E_{\infty}= -(2.18 10^{-18} J)\times \frac{2^2}{\infty ^2}=0 J

Ionization energy of the He^+ ion:

I.E=E_{infty}-E_1=0-(-3.488\times 10^{-17} J)=3.488\times 10^{-17} J

I.E=3.488\times 10^{-20} kJ

To convert in into kj/mol multiply it with N_A=6.022\times 10^{23} mol^{-1}

I.E=3.488\times 10^{-20} kJ\times 6.022\times 10^{23} mol^{-1}=21,004.73kJ/mol

What is the molarity of a solution that contains 0.500 mole of kno3 dissolved in 0.500-liter of solution?
belka [17]

Answer : The molarity of solution is, 1.00 M

Explanation : Given,

Moles of KNO_3 = 0.500 mol

Volume of solution = 0.500 L

Molarity : It is defined as the number of moles of solute present in one liter of volume of solution.

Formula used :

\text{Molarity}=\frac{\text{Moles of }KNO_3}{\text{Volume of solution (in L)}}

Now put all the given values in this formula, we get:

\text{Molarity}=\frac{0.500mol}{0.500L}=1.00mole/L=1.00M

Therefore, the molarity of solution is, 1.00 M

Convert 1.72 moles of magnesium carbonate to formula units
snow_tiger [21]
One mole any substance contains 6.022 ₓ 10²³ particles called Avogadro's Number.

The relation between moles and number of particles is given as,

                        # of particles  =  moles ₓ Avogadro's number

In our case the particles are formula units of MgCO₃. So, 1 mole of MgCO₃ contain 6.022 ₓ 10²³ formula units, then the number of formula units in 1.72 moles are calculated as,

              # of formula units  =  1.72 mol ₓ 6.022 ₓ 10²³ formula units / mol

             # of formula units   =  1.035 ₓ 10²⁴ Formula Units

Which of the following is a correctly written chemical equation that demonstrates the conservation of mass?
Fantom [35]

Answer:

Option D is correct.

H₂O + CO₂      →    H₂CO₃

Explanation:

First of all we will get to know what law of conservation of mass states.

According to this law, mass can neither be created nor destroyed in a chemical equation.

This law was given by French chemist  Antoine Lavoisier in 1789. According to this law mass of reactant and mass of product must be equal, because masses are not created or destroyed in a chemical reaction.

Example:

6CO₂ + 6H₂O + energy → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂

there are six carbon atoms, eighteen oxygen atoms and twelve hydrogen atoms on the both side of equation so this reaction followed the law of conservation of mass.

Now we will apply this law to given chemical equations:

A) H₂ + O₂   →    H₂O

There are two hydrogen and two oxygen atoms present on left side while on right side only one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms are present so mass in not conserved. This equation not follow the law of conservation of mass.

B) Mg + HCl   →   H₂ + MgCl₂

In this equation one Mg, one H and one Cl atoms are present on left side while on right side two hydrogen, one Mg and two chlorine atoms are present. This equation also not follow the law of conservation of mass.

C) KClO₃      →     KCl + O₂

There are one K, one Cl and three O atoms are present on left side of chemical equation while on right side one K one Cl and two oxygen atoms are present. This equation also not following the law of conservation of mass.

D)  H₂O + CO₂      →    H₂CO₃

There are two hydrogen, one carbon and three oxygen atoms are present on both side of equation thus, mass remain conserved. Thus is correct option.

The concentration of Si in an Fe-Si alloy is 0.25 wt%. What is the concentration in kilograms of Si per cubic meter of alloy?
kodGreya [7K]

Answer : The concentration of Si in kilograms is, 19.55kg/m^3

Explanation :

As we are given that, the concentration of Si in an Fe-Si alloy is 0.25 wt% that means:

Weight of Si = 0.25 g = 0.00025 kg

Weight of Fe = 100 - 0.25 = 99.75 g = 0.09975 kg

Density of Si = 2.32g/cm^3=2.32\times 10^6g/m^3

Density of Fe = 7.87g/cm^3=7.87\times 10^6g/m^3

Now we have to calculate the concentration in kilograms of Si per cubic meter of alloy.

Concentration of Si in kilograms =  \frac{\text{Weight of Si in 100 g of alloy}}{\text{Volume of 100 g of alloy}}

Concentration of Si in kilograms =  \frac{\text{Weight of Si in 100 g of alloy}}{\frac{\text{Wight of Fe}}{\text{Density of Fe}}+\frac{\text{Wight of Si}}{\text{Density of Si}}}

Now put all the given values in this expression, we get:

Concentration of Si in kilograms = \frac{0.00025kg}{\frac{99.75g}{7.87\times 10^6g/m^3}+\frac{0.25g}{2.23\times 10^6g/m^3}}

Concentration of Si in kilograms = 19.55kg/m^3

Thus, the concentration of Si in kilograms is, 19.55kg/m^3
