If the diameter of the black marble is 3.0 cm, and by using the formula for volume, what is a good approximation of its volume?

Record to the ones place. cm3 Determine the initial volume of water in the graduated cylinder. If you added the black marble to the graduated cylinder and it sinks, what final volume should the water level indicate? Record to the ones place.

Answer:

The rise in liquid is 4.33-3 = 1.33 cm

Explanation:

Volume of the given marble can be found out using the formula for volume = 4/3 \pi r3

Radius is given as 3/2 cm

4/3 \times 22/7  \times 3/2  \times 3/2 = 66/7 cm3= 9.42

Now if the graduated cylinder has same diameter and the level of liquid is 3 cm then volume of cylinder can be calculated by the following formula =\pi r2h = 22/7 \times 3/2 \times 3/2 \times 3 = 21.21cm

When the marble ball completely sinks the new volume is = 21.21 + 9.42 = 30.63

The rise in height will be \pi r2h = 22/7 \times 3/2 \times 3/2 \times h = 30.63

H= 4.33 so rise in liquid is 4.33-3 = 1.33 cm

A 100-W lightbulb is placed in a cylinder equipped with a moveable piston. The lightbulb is turned on for 0.020 h, and the assem
nasty-shy [4]

Answer: The workdone W = 505J

Explanation:

Applying the pressure-volume relationship

W= - PΔV

Where negative sign indicates the power is being delivered to the surrounding

W = - 1.0atm * ( 5.88 - 0.9)L

= - 1.0atm * (4.98)

W = -4.98 atmL

Converting to Joules

1atmL = 101.325J

-4.98atmL = x joules.

Work done in J = -4.98 * 101.325

W= -505J

Therefore the workdone is -505J

A 0.0035 M aqueous solution of a particular compound has pH = 2.46. The compound is (A) a weak base (B) a weak acid (C) a strong
slava [35]

Answer:

(a) A strong acid

Explanation:

We have given the pH of the solution is 2.46

pH=2.46

So the concentration of H^+=10^{-pH}=10^{-2.46}=0.00346

solution having H+ concentration more than H^+=10^{-7} is acidic

Since in the given solution, H+ concentration is 0.00346 M which is more than 10^{-7}[/tex] so this is an acidic solution

Note-The concentration of H^+ decide the behavior of the solution that is, it is acidic or basic

Which of these correctly defines the pOH of a solution? the log of the hydronium ion concentration the negative log of the hydro
Likurg_2 [28]

Answer : The correct option is, the negative log of the hydroxide ion concentration.

Explanation :

pOH : It is defined as the negative logarithm of hydroxide ion concentration. It is a measure of the alkalinity of the solution.

Formula used :

pOH=-log[OH^-]

[OH^-] is the concentration of OH^- ions.

When pOH is less than 7, the solution is alkaline.

When pOH is more than 7, the solution is acidic.

When pOH is equal to 7, the solution is neutral.
