Answer:

5156  Â

Explanation:

Chains of monomers that are being linked together constitute what is called polymers. in this question; we are to compute the end to end separation (direct distance between molecule ends), in Angstroms, of a coiled PVC molecule.

Using the following approach:

The first step is to determine the repeating units in polymer

The number of repeating unit = average molecular weight/  atomic weight of PVC

Given that:

average molecular weight = 256,131 g/mol

atomic weight of PVC = 62.498 g

Then;

The number of repeating unit = 256,131 g/mol /  62.498 g = 4098.227143 mol

Now the distance is calculated by using the formula:

d = (C-C) × sin 109.5/2

C-C bond length = 1.54 angstroms

tetrahedral bond angle = 109.5°

Then d = (1.54)  × sin 109.5/2

d = 1.258

Thus ; the end to end separation  is :

4098.227143  × 1.258 = 5155.57 Â

The answer is 5156  Â (since no decimal should be included )

a) (1 point) Build anthracene, optimize its geometry and examine its structure. Describe its shape. b) (1 point) Measure the C-C
oksano4ka [1.4K]

Answer:

a) The structure of anthracene is planar with all the pi electrons delocalized in the structure to maintain aromaticity.

b) The C-C bond length in anthracene is about 140 pm with all the bond lengths being similar to each other.

The standard C-C bond length is 154 pm while standard C=C bond is about 134 pm. Therefore the bond length in anthracene is smaller than standard C-C bond length and longer than standard C=C bond length. This can be explained from the fact that the C-C bonds in anthracene has be mixed characteristics of single and double bond because of the delocalization of pi electrons over the whole structure. As a result, they are neither fully single nor fully double bond in nature. Hence the observed bond lengths.

c) This molecule is not flat. The N-atom is sp3 hybridized here and the H-atom attached to N will remain out of plane.

If 25 g of NH3, and 96 g of H2S react according to the following reaction, what is the
jeyben [28]

25 g of NH₃ will produce 47.8 g of (NH₄)₂S

<u>Explanation:</u>

2 NH₃ + H₂S ----> (NH₄)₂S

Molecular weight of NH₃ = 17 g/mol

Molecular weight of (NH₄)₂S = 68 g/mol

According to the balanced reaction:

2 X 17 g of NH₃ produces 68 g of (NH₄)₂S

1 g of NH₃ will produce \frac{68}{34} g of (NH₄)₂S

25g of NH₃ will produce \frac{65}{34} X 25 g of (NH₄)₂S

                                     = 47.8 g of (NH₄)₂S

Therefore, 25 g of NH₃ will produce 47.8 g of (NH₄)₂S

The pka of hf is 3.2 determine the pkb of hf?
Julli [10]

Well, first we must remember that

pK_{a}+pK_{b}=14

This is because

K_{a}*K_{b}=10^{-14}

-log(K_{a}*K_{b})=-log(10^{-14})\\-logK_{a}+-logK_{b}=-log(10^{-14})\\pK_{a}+pK_{b}=14

So then

pK_{b}=14-pK_{a}=14-3.2=1.8

How many moles of gas occupy 98 L at a pressure of 2.8 atmosphere and a temperature of 292 K
OLga [1]
Let's assume that the gas has ideal gas behavior.

Then we can use ideal gas equation,
PV = nRT

Where, <span>
P = Pressure of the gas (Pa)
V = volume of the gas (m³)
n = number of moles (mol)
R = Universal gas constant (8.314 J mol</span>⁻¹ K⁻¹)<span>
T = temperature in Kelvin (K)
<span>
The given data for the </span></span>gas is,<span>
P = 2.8 atm = 283710 Pa
V = 98 L = 98 x 10</span>⁻³ m³<span>
T = 292 K
R = 8.314 J mol</span>⁻¹ K⁻¹<span>
n = ?

By applying the formula,
283710 Pa x </span>98 x 10⁻³ m³ = n x 8.314 J mol⁻¹ K⁻¹ x 292 K
<span>                                       n = 11.45 mol

Hence, moles of gas is </span>11.45 mol.
