Answer:

For a: The correct answer is Option (iv)

For b: The correct answer is Option (i)

Explanation:

 • For a:

Atomic radius of an atom is defined as the total distance from the nucleus to the outermost shell of the atom.

On moving from top to bottom, there is an addition of shell around the nucleus and the outermost shell gets far away from the nucleus. So, the distance between the nucleus and outermost shell increases. Thus, increasing the atomic radii of the atom.

On moving from left to right in a period, more and more electrons get add up in the same shell and the attraction between the last electron and nucleus increases, that results in the shrinkage of size of an atom. Thus, decreasing the atomic radii of the atom.

For the given options:

Hydrogen is present in Group 1 and Period 1 of the periodic table.

Helium is present in Group 18 and Period 1 of the periodic table.

Radon is present in Group 18 and Period 6 of the periodic table.

Rhodium is present in Group 9 and Period 5 of the periodic table.

Hence, radon will have the largest atomic radius and the correct answer is Option (iv)

 • For b:

Electronegativity is defined as the the tendency of an element to attract the shared pair of electron towards itself in a compound.

This property of an atom increases as we move from left to right in a period because the number of charge on the nucleus gets increased.

But this property decreases as we move from top to bottom in a group because electrons get add up in the new shells which make them further far away from the nucleus.

For the given options:

Fluorine is present in Group 17 and Period 2 of the periodic table.

Chlorine is present in Group 17 and Period 3 of the periodic table.

Bromine is present in Group 17 and Period 4 of the periodic table.

Hence, fluorine will be the most electronegative atom and the correct answer is Option (i)

The refractive index, n of a polymer was determined as a function of temperature. The results are given in the table. Determine
mylen [45]

Answer:

Explanation:

The given data shows linear trend between refractive index and temperature .

From 20 degree to 80 degree , every increase of 10 degree decreases refractive index by .0015 . This trend breaks at 90 degree beyond which , refractive index falls at greater rate or sharply.

So transition temperature is 90 degree .

The symbol for xenon (Xe) would be a part of the noble gas notation for the element antimony. cesium. radium. uranium.
nlexa [21]
The noble gas notation is the short or abbreviated form of the electron configuration.

It means that you use the symbol of the previous noble gas as part of the electron configuration of an element.

The gas noble previous to antimony is Kr, so you do not use Xe to write the electron configuration of Sb.

The gas noble previous to radium is Rn, so you do not use Xe to wirte the electron configuration of Ra.

The gas noble previous to uranium is Rn, so you do not use Xe to write the electron configuration of U.

The gas noble previous to cesium is Xe, so you use Xe to write the noble notation for Sb. This is it: Cs: [Xe] 6s.

Answer: cesium

A flask contains 0.180 mol of liquid bromine, br2. determine the number of bromine molecules present in the flask.
Reika [66]
Avogadro's number represents the number of units in one mole of any substance. This has the value of 6.022 x 10^23 units / mole. This number can be used to convert the number of atoms or molecules into number of moles. We calculate as follows:

0.180 mol Br2 ( 6.022 x 10^23 molecules / mole ) = 1.084x10^23 molecules Br2

The enthalpy change for the explosion of ammonium nitrate with fuel oil is –7198 kJ for every 3 moles of NH4NO3. What is the ent
anastassius [24]

Answer:

−2399.33 kJ

Explanation:

If NH₄NO₃ reacts with fuel oil to give a ΔH of -7198 for every 3 moles of NH₄NO₃

What is the enthalpy change for 1.0 mole of NH₄NO₃ in this reaction

∴ For every 1 mole, we will have \frac{1}{3} of the total enthaply of the 3 moles

so, to determine the 1 mole; we have:

\frac{1}{3}*(-7198kJ)

= −2399.33 kJ

∴ the enthalpy change for 1.0 mole of NH₄NO₃ in this reaction = −2399.33 kJ

Safrole was once used as a flavoring in root beer, until it was banned in 1960. what is the vapor pressure of a solution prepare
BartSMP [9]
Answer is: 48,25 torr.
Raoult's Law: p = x(solv) · p(solv)
p - vapour pressure of a solution.
x(solv) - mole fraction of the solvent.
p(solv) - vapour pressure of the pure solvent.
n(ethanol) = 950g ÷ 46,07g/mol = 20,62 mol.
x(solv) = moles of solvent ÷ total number of moles
x(solv) = 20,62 ÷ 21,77 = 0,965.
p = 0,965 ·50,0 torr = 48,25 torr.
