A major Blu-ray rental chain is considering opening a new store in an area that currently does not have any such stores. The cha

in will open if there is evidence that more than 5,000 of the 20,000 households in the area are equipped with Blu-ray players. It conducts a telephone poll of 300 randomly selected households in the area and finds that 96 have Blu-ray players. The decision on the hypothesis test using a 5% level of significance is
(A) 2.80.
(B) 2.60.
(C) 1.30.
(D) 1.94.

Answer with explanation:

Let p be the population proportion.

Given :  The chain will open if there is evidence that more than 5,000 of the 20,000 households in the area are equipped with Blu-ray players.

i.e. p=\dfrac{5000}{20000}=0.25

H_0:p\leq0.25\\\\H_a:p>0.25

Since alternative hypothesis is right-tailed , so the test is right-tailed test.

Also, Sample size : n= 300  ,

Sample proportion: \hat{p}=\dfrac{96}{300}=0.32

Test statistic: z=\dfrac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\dfrac{p(1-p)}{n}}}

z=\dfrac{0.32-0.25}{\sqrt{\dfrac{0.25(1-0.25)}{300}}}=2.8

i.e. Observed test statistic Value = 2.80

(A) is right option.

Critical value for 5% significance level for right tailed test :-

z_{\alpha}=z_{0.05}= 1.6448536

Since , the observed z-value is greater than the critical value , so we reject the null hypothesis.

Conclusion : We have sufficient evidence to supposrt the alternative hypothesis.

So, The chain will open if there is evidence that more than 5,000 of the 20,000 households in the area are equipped with Blu-ray players.

What’s the x value of PR=9x-31 and QR=43?
True [87]
<h3>Simplifying </h3>

9x + -31 = 43

<h3>Reorder the terms:</h3>

-31 + 9x =43

<h3>Solving</h3>

-31 + 9x =43

<h3>Solving for variable 'x' .</h3><h3>Move all terms containing x to the left, </h3>

Add '31' to each side of the equation .

0 + 31 +9x = 43 + 31

<h3>Combine like terms: </h3>

-31 + 31 =0

0 + 9x = 43 +31

9x = 43 + 31

<h3>Combine like terms:</h3>

43 + 31 =74

9x = 74

<h3>Divide each side by '9'</h3>

x = 8. 222222222

While driving home for the holidays, you can’t seem to get Little’s Law out of your mind. You note that your average speed of tr
suter [353]

Answer:

1,200 cars per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's suppose the car flow is constant and based on the observations stated in the problem.

If we set and imaginary car counter where your car is, then there are 25 cars in ¼ of a mile (including yours) going at your same speed.

Now compute how long it will take to travel ¼ mile. As your speed is constant 60 mph, we can cross multiply

60 miles -----------> 1 hour

¼ of a mile --------> x hours

and

60/ (¼) = 1/x ---------> x = 1/240 hours.

This means that in 1/240 hours the 25 cars will be passing the counter.

Now compute how many cars will pass through our counter in 1 hour. Again, cross multiplying

1/240 hours -------> 25 cars

1 hour --------------> x cars

and

1/240 = 25/x -------> x = 25*240 = 1,200 cars.

So, the flow rate of the highway (going in your direction) in cars per hour is 1,200 cars per hour.

This table shows the area in inches of four rectangular scraps of fabric.
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

<h2>82 in²</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The median of the four numbers a, b, c and d. Where a ≤ b ≤ c ≤ d:

\dfrac{b+c}{2}

We have

84in², 72in², 80in², 84in² → 72in², 80in², 84in², 84in²

The median:

\dfrac{80+84}{2}=\dfrac{164}{2}=82\ in^2
