Gibbons, small Asian apes, move by brachiation, swinging below a handhold to move forward to the next handhold. A 9.4 kg gibbon

has an arm length (hand to shoulder) of 0.60 m. We can model its motion as that of a point mass swinging at the end of a 0.60-m-long, massless rod. At the lowest point of its swing, the gibbon is moving at 3.4 m/s . What upward force must a branch provide to support the swinging gibbon?

Answer:

upward force acting = 261.6 N

Explanation:

given,

mass of gibbon = 9.4 kg

arm length = 0.6 m

speed of the swing

net force must provide

F_{branch} + F_{gravity}=F_{centripetal}

force of gravity = - mg

F_{branch}=F_{centripetal}-F_{gravity}

                        = \dfrac{mv^2}{r} + mg

                        = m(\dfrac{3.4^2}{0.6} +9.8)

                        =9 x 29.067

                        = 261.6 N

upward force acting = 261.6 N

The headlights of a car emit light of wavelength 400 nm and are separated by 1.2 m. The headlights are viewed by an observer who
densk [106]

Answer:

The most correct option is;

B. 10 km

Explanation:

L = \frac{y \times d}{1.22 \times  \lambda} = \frac{1.2 \times 0.004}{1.22 \times  400 \times 10^{-9}} = 9836.066 \ km

Where:

y = Distance between the two headlights

d = Aperture of observers eye

λ = Wavelength of light

L = Distance between the observer and the headlight

Therefore, from the above solution, the distance between the observer and the headlights is 9386.066 km which is approximately 10 km.

Also we have

sinθ = y/L = 1.22 (λ/d)

= 1.22 \times \frac{400 \times 10^{-9}}{0.004}

sinθ = 1.22×10⁻⁴ rad

For a long ideal solenoid having a circular cross-section, the magnetic field strength within the solenoid is given by the equat
andrezito [222]

Answer:

Radius of the solenoid is 0.93 meters.

Explanation:

It is given that,

The magnetic field strength within the solenoid is given by the equation,

B(t)=5t\ T, t is time in seconds

\dfrac{dB}{dt}=5\ T

The induced electric field outside the solenoid is 1.1 V/m at a distance of 2.0 m from the axis of the solenoid, x = 2 m

The electric field due to changing magnetic field is given by :

E(2\pi x)=\dfrac{d\phi}{dt}

x is the distance from the axis of the solenoid

E(2\pi x)=\pi r^2\dfrac{dB}{dt}, r is the radius of the solenoid

r^2=\dfrac{2xE}{(dE/dt)}

r^2=\dfrac{2\times 2\times 1.1}{(5)}

r = 0.93 meters

So, the radius of the solenoid is 0.93 meters. Hence, this is the required solution.

Two separate but nearby coils are mounted along the same axis. A power supply controls the flow of current in the first coil, an
gulaghasi [49]

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

  The correct answer is option c

Explanation:

Faraday states that when there is a change in magnetic field of a coil of a wire, it means that there exist an emf in the circuit which in induced due to the change in the magnetic flux

From the question  two separate but nearby coils are mounted along the axis. First coil is connected to the power supply and the current flow is controlled by the supply.When the current alternates, it would produce magnetic field ,also the second coil is connected to an ammeter which indicates the current that is flowing in it when current in the first coil changes

This magnetic field that is produce would cause a change flux which would induce current in the second coil so the ammeter would indicate current flow in the second coil

a is incorrect because the current in fir coil is not change hence flux won't change therefore current is is not induced in second coil

This is the same reason b is incorrect

d is incorrect due to the fact that when the second coil is connected to a power supply by rewiring it to be in series with first coil the law of electromagnetism would no longer hold so he ammeter would show no reading

The weight of a 72.0 kg astronaut on the Moon, where g = 1.63 m/s2 is (5 points) Select one: a. 112 N b. 117 N c. 135 N d. 156 N
kipiarov [429]

Answer: The weight of a 72.0 kg astronaut on the Moon is 117.36 N.

Explanation:

Mass of the astronaut on the moon , m= 72 kg

Acceleration due to gravity on moon,g  = 1.63 m/s^2

According to Newton second law of motion: F = ma

This will changes to = Weight = mass × g

Weight=72 kg\times 1.63m/s^2=117.36 N

The weight of a 72.0 kg astronaut on the Moon is 117.36 N.
