Because earths gravitational force is greater than that of the moon.

Answer:

Gravitational force exists between any two bodies having mass. It is proportional to the mass of two bodies and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them.

F=G\frac{Mm}{d^2}

Thus, with increase in distance, the gravitational force decreases.

Acorn falls to Earth because of the following two reasons:

1. Mass of Earth > Mass of Moon

2. Acorn is closer to the Earth

Thus, the gravitation force of attraction is greater towards the Earth.

If you find an igneous rock which has 450 radioactive isotopes and 3,150 stable daughter isotopes, how many half-lifes of this i
slavikrds [6]

Answer:

3t_{1/2}

Explanation:

To find the half-lifes of the isotope we need to use the following equation:

N_{t} = N_{0}2^{-\frac{t}{t_{1/2}}}     (1)

<em>where Nt: is the amount of the isotope that has not yet decayed after a time t, N₀: is the initial amount of the isotope, t: is the time and </em>t_{1/2}<em>: is the half-lifes.</em>

By solving equation (1) for t we have:

\frac{t}{t_{1/2}} = - \frac{Ln(Nt/N_{0})}{Ln(2)}

<u>Having that:</u>

Nt = 450

N₀ = 3150 + 450 = 3600,

The half-lifes of the isotope is:

t = - \frac{Ln(450/3600)}{Ln(2)} \cdot t_{1/2} = 3t_{1/2}

Therefore, 3 half-lives of the isotope passed since the rock was formed.

I hope it helps you!

A fly has a mass of 1 gram at rest. how fast would it have to be traveling to have the mass of a large suv, which is about 3000
Zigmanuir [339]

We solve this using special relativity. Special relativity actually places the relativistic mass to be the rest mass factored by a constant "gamma". The gamma is equal to 1/sqrt (1 - (v/c)^2). <span>

We want a ratio of 3000000 to 1, or 3 million to 1.

</span>

<span>Therefore:
3E6 = 1/sqrt (1 - (v/c)^2)
1 - (v/c)^2 = (0.000000333)^2
0.99999999999999 = (v/c)^2
0.99999999999999 = v/c
<span>v= 99.999999999999% of the speed of light ~ speed of light
<span>v = 3 x 10^8 m/s</span></span></span>

A 900-kg car traveling east at 15.0 m/s collides with a 750-kg car traveling north at 20.0 m/s. The cars stick together. Assume
dalvyx [7]

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the car 1, m_1=900\ kg

Initial speed of car 1, u_1=15i\ m/s (east)

Mass of the car 2, m_2=750\ kg

Initial speed of car 2, u_1=20j\ m/s (north)

(b) As the cars stick together. It is a case of inelastic collision. Let V is the common speed after the collision. Using the conservation of momentum as :

m_1u_1+m_2u_2=(m_1+m_2)V

900\times 15i +750\times 20j=(900+750)V

13500i+15000j=1650V

V=(8.18i+9.09j)\ m/s

The magnitude of speed,

|V|=\sqrt{8.18^2+9.09^2}

V = 12.22 m/s

(b) Let \theta is the direction the wreckage move just after the collision. It is given by :

tan\theta=\dfrac{v_y}{v_x}

tan\theta=\dfrac{9.09}{8.18}

\theta=48.01^{\circ}

Hence, this is the required solution.

A box of mass 5.0 kg is accelerated from rest by a force across a floor at a rate of 2.0 m/s2 for 7.0 s. find the net work done
Aleks04 [339]
W=Fd. Force is not given so we solve for it. F=ma, m=5kg, a=2m/s^2, F=10N. Distance is not given so we solve for it, x=.5a(t^2)=.5(2)(7x7)=49m. F=10N, d=49m, W=490J.

Jeff puts on a leather jacket over his sweater. The sweater becomes negatively charged. Which statements about Jeff’s situation
Vinil7 [7]

Following statements are true
(i) The leather jacket has a lower tendency to attract electrons than sweater.
When the sweater and the leather jacket are in contact with each other, the leather jacket loses electrons and thus becomes positively charged. the electrons are gained by the sweater and it becomes negatively charges.
The opposite charge attract. so the sweater ( negatively charged) will attract protons ( positively charged) . The leather jacket ( positively charged) will attract the electrons ( negatively charged).
