A cannon is sitting in a boat which is floating in a small pond. You attach one end of a chain to the boat and the other end of

the chain to the cannon and throw the cannon out of the boat. The cannon hangs from the boat without touching the bottom of the pond. The water level on the sides of the lake when the cannon is hanging from the boat is ___________ when the cannon was inside the boat.A. exactly the same as.B. a little lower thanC. a little higher than

Answer: A. exactly the same

Explanation:

When the canon was inside the boat , the whole system was floating in the lake so the volume of water displaced by boat was greater to balance the heavy combination .

The canon was later thrown inside the lake . But it was still floating because it was tied with the boat by a chain . So boat dipped to the same level to displace the same amount of water so that the whole system still keeps floating .

Hence there will be no change in the level of water in the lake ,because same amount of water is being displaced in the second case.

Which statement is not a good practice when working inside a computer case?
lozanna [386]

Answer:

a. be sure to hold expansion cards by the edge connectors

Explanation:

Removal of loose jewelry is a good safety practice. Also not touching a microchip with a magnetized screwdriver is also a good practice.

But holding expansion cards by the edge connectors is not a good practice, so it is the odd one in the question. Therefore answer option a provides the correct and best answer to the question

A wooden piece is made in different shapes take length (l) = radius (r) = 2m Calculate its volume as a:
In-s [12.5K]

This question deals with the volume of different shapes.

a) volume of the sphere is "33.51 m³".

b) volume of the cylinder is "25.13 m³".

a)

The volume of a sphere is given by the following formula:

Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3\\\\Volume = \frac{4}{3}\pi (2\ m)^3

Volume = 33.51 m³

b)

The volume of a cylinder is given by the following formula:

Volume = \pi r^2l\\\\Volume =\pi (2\ m)^2(2\ m)

Volume = 25.13 m³

A rocket moves upward, starting from rest with an acceleration of +29.4 for 3.98 s. it runs out of fuel at the end of the 3.98 s
topjm [15]
U = 0, initial upward speed
a = 29.4 m/s², acceleration up to 3.98 s
a = -9.8 m/s², acceleration after 3.98s

Let h₁ = the height at time t, for t ≤ 3.98 s
Let h₂ = the height at time t > 3.98 s

Motion for t ≤ 3.98 s:
h₁ = (1/2)*(29.4 m/s²)*(3.98 s)² = 232.854 m
Calculate the upward velocity at t = 3.98 s
v₁ = (29.4 m/s²)*(3.98 s) = 117.012 m/s

Motion for t > 3.98 s
At maximum height, the upward velocity is zero.
Calculate the extra distance traveled before the velocity is zero.
(117.012 m/s)² + 2*(-9.8 m/s²)*(h₂ m) = 0
h₂ = 698.562 m

The total height is
h₁ + h₂ = 232.854 + 698.562 = 931.416 m

Answer: 931.4 m (nearest tenth)

According to the saffir/simpson scale, what storm surge and type of damage was most likely experienced in homestead, florida whi
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

Explanation:

The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale gives 1 to 5 rating based on a hurricane's wind speed, storm surge and potential property damage. It rates according to categories. When placed at Hurricanes of Category 3 and above, they are termed major catastrophic hurricanes because of their potential for loss of life and damages of property. Ratings at Category 1 and 2 storms are dangerous but can be prevented by following directed measures.

Florida situated directly in the hurricane at east coast , had experiened Category 1- Category 5 ratings from hurricane and noticed in Land fall in Florida since 1894 with Winds ranging from 74-95 mph with some dangerous damages which can lead damages to Well-built homes, dedtroying roofs , Uprooting shallow rooted trees, and causing power outages due to destruction of poles

to 157 mph or higher causing Catastrophic damages making the area inhabitable due to loss of life and properties.

For example, Hurricane Dorian in September 2019 attacked Florida’s east coast resulting to a Category 2 storm producing tropical storm force winds,heavy rain and storm surge leading to damages of roof of building and disruption of power poles.

A storage tank holds methane at 120 K, with a quality of 25 %, and it warms up by 5°C per hour due to a failure in the refrigera
lord [1]

One of the fundamental pillars to solve this problem is the use of thermodynamic tables to be able to find the values of the specific volume of saturated liquid and evaporation. We will be guided by the table B.7.1 'Saturated Methane' from which we will obtain the properties of this gas at the given temperature. Later considering the isobaric process we will calculate with that volume the properties in state two. Finally we will calculate the times through the differences of the temperatures and reasons of change of heat.

Table B.7.1: Saturated Methane

T_1 = 120K

p_1 = 191.6kPa

v_f = 0.002439m^3/kg

v_{fg} = 0.30367 m^3/kg

Calculate the specific volume of the methane at state 1

v_1 = v_f+x_1v_{fg}

v_1 = 0.002439+ (0.25)(0.30367)

v_1 = 0.0783m^3/kg

Assume the tank is rigid, specific volume remains constant

v_2 = v_1

v_2 = 0.0783m^3/kg

Now from the same table we can obtain the properties,

At v_g = 0.0783m^3/kg

T_2 = 145K

p_2 = 823.7kPa

We can calculate the time taken for the methane to become a single phase

t = \frac{T_2-T_1}{\dot{T}}

Here

T_1 = Initial temperature of Methane

\dot{T} = Warming rate

Replacing

t = \frac{(145-273)-(120-273)}{5}

t = \frac{25}{5}

t = 5hr

Therefore the time taken for the methane to become a single phase is 5hr
