Cindy runs 2 kilometers every morning. She takes 2 minutes for the first 250 meters, 4 minutes for the next 1,000 meters, 1 minu

te for the next 350 meters, and 3 minutes for the rest.
Cindy’s average speed for the entire run is
( )
meters per minute. One kilometer is the same as 1,000 meters.

In order to calculate average speed we will calculate the total distance in meters traveled by cindy.

Distance = 2 Km

1 km = 1000m

So distance in meters = 2000 m

Then let us calculate the total time taken by cindy to cover these 2000 meters

Total time in minutes = 2 + 4 + 1 + 3 = 10 minute

Average speed = total distance  / total time

Average speed = 2000 m / 10 minutes

average speed = 200 m / min

The metallic radius of a lithium atom is 152 pm. What is the volume of a lithium atom in cubic meters?
Anuta_ua [19.1K]

Answer:

Volume of lithium atom is found to be 1.47 X 10⁻²⁹ m³

Explanation:

Let us consider the volume of atom as a sphere (but it is little complex than that). This volume is mathematically expressed as,

V=\frac{4}{3}\pi  R^{3}----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(Eq. 1)

Here, R is the radius of lithium atom. The radius is given in picometers, so firstly let us convert it into meters

R=(152pm )(1X10^{-12}\frac{m}{pm})

R = 1.52 X 10^{-10}m

placing this value in Eq.1 the required result is achieved

V=\frac{4}{3}\pi  {1.52X10^{-10}}^{3}

V= 1.47 X 10⁻²⁹ m³

The human body is 0.0040% iron. How many milligrams of iron does a 165 pound person contain?
Fofino [41]

Answer:

in a body of 165 pounds, the iron content is 2993.707 mg

Explanation:

  • % iron = 0.0040% = (mass iron / mass human) * 100

⇒ mass iron / mass human = 4 E-5

∴ mass human = 165 pounds

⇒ mass iron = 165 pounds * 4 E-5

⇒ mass iron = 6.6 E-3 pounds * ( 453.592 g/pound ) * ( 1000 mg/g )

⇒ mass iron = 2993.707 mg iron

An ice cube measuring 5.80 cm by 5.80 cm by 5.80 cm has a density of 0.917 g/mL What is the mass?
OLga [1]

Answer: 178.9 g

Explanation:

Density = \frac{mass}{volume in mL}

find volume of the cube: (5.80 cm) (5.80 cm) (5.80cm) = 195.112 cm³

1.0 cm³ = 1.0 mL

so 195.112 cm³ = 195.112 mL

plug value into density equation:

0.917 g/mL = (mass) / (195.112 mL)

and solve for mass!

A 0.941 gram piece of magnesium metal is heated and reacts with oxygen. the resulting oxide weighed 1.560 grams. determine the p
Whitepunk [10]

Given:

magnesium = 0.941 gram piece

Magnesium oxide= 1.560 grams

Formula:

(magnesium / magnesium oxide) x 100 = % Mg

100% - % Mg = percent composition of each element

Solution:

(0.941g Mg) / (1.560g MgO)

= 0.603

= 60.3% Mg

100% - 60.3%

= 39.7%

39.7% is the percentage composition of each element.
