A small pool filled only with water will require an additional 300 gallons of water in order to be filled to 80% of its capacity

. If pumping in these additional 300 gallons of water will increase the amount of water in the pool by 30%, what is the total capacity of the pool in gallons?A. 1000B. 1250C. 1300D. 1600E. 1625

Answer:

E

Explanation:

Let the total capacity of the pool be x

Let the initial volume of water in the pool be y

then;

300 + y =80% of x

300 + y = (80/100) * x

300 + y = 0.8x   ...........................equation 1

300 gallons of water increased the volume by 30x

y +300 = y +30% of y

300 = 0.3y

y=  (300/0.3)

y= 1000

substitute y into equation 1 to get x

300 + y = 0.8x

300 + 1000 = 0.8x

1300 =0.8x

x= (1300/0.8)

x= 1625 gallons

Which of the following are scalar quantities? select all that apply
dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

1, 4, 5, see the explanation below

Explanation:

We must remember that scalar magnitudes are distinguished by having only a physical quantity, that is, they have no sense or direction as an example of scalar quantities, we find mass, temperature, energy, specific heat, power among others.

1 . 150 [grams] , because is a mass =  scalar

4. 5 kilometer [race], is an amount = scalar

5. 34 steps, is an amount = scalar

Number 2, and 3 are vectors because they have amount and direction.

The mass of Venus is 81.5% that of the earth, and its radius is 94.9% that of the earth. If a rock weighs 75.0 N on earth, compu
IgorLugansk [536]

Answer:

g = 0.905 gE

W  = 67.9 N

Explanation:

given data

mass of Venus mv =  81.5% = 0.815

radius Rv = 94.9% = 0.949

weighs W = 75.0 N

solution

we apply here acceleration due to gravity at earth surface that is

g = \frac{Gm}{R^2}   = 9.80 m/s²  ............1

so

g = \frac{G(0.815)}{0.949R^2}

g = 0.905 gE

and

W = m gv

W = 0.905 m gE

W  = 0.905 × 75

W  = 67.9 N

A plane took 7 hours to travel 2020 km. For the first 4 hours,
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

-6.6 km/h

Explanation:

In 7hr plane travelled 2020km;

For the first 4hr the average speed was 310km/h;

d=st, s=d/t;

Distance covered in first 4h is d = 310km/h×4h = 1240km;

How many ternary strings of length 2 n are there in which the zeroes appear only in odd-numbered positions?
Rashid [163]

In a string of length 2n, there are exactly n odd-numbered posiitons. In the remaning n even-numbered positions, we want to choose from only two possible digits, either a 1 or a 2. This means there are 2^n such ternary strings.

Digital bits on a 12.0-cm diameter audio CD are encoded along an outward spiraling path that starts at radius R1=2.5cm and finis
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

total length of the spiral is L is  5378.01 m

Explanation:

Given data:

Inner radius R1=2.5 cm

and outer radius R2= 5.8 cm.

the width of spiral winding  is (d) =1.6 \mu m =  1.6x 10^{-6} m

the total length of the spiral is L is given as

= \frac{(Area\ of\ the\ spiraing\ portion\ on\ the\ disk)}{d}

=\frac{\pi *(R_2)^2 - \pi*(R_1)^2}{d}

=\frac{\pi *(0.058)^2 - \pi*(0.025)^2}{1.6*10^{-6}}

= 5378.01 m
