The system of equations are y = 35 - 2.2x and y = 1.7x

Solution:

Given that, office building has two elevators.

One elevator starts out on the 4th floor, 35 feet above the ground, as it’s descending at a rate of 2.2 feet per second

Let "x" be the number of seconds for which the elevator is descending

Therefore, for "x" seconds the descended feet is 2.2x feet

The elevator is at 4 th floor, 35 feet above ground

Therefore, from 35 feet, the elevator has descended 2.2x feet for "x" seconds

Let "y" be the final position of elevator after "x" seconds

Therefore,

y = 35 - 2.2x

The other elevator starts out at ground level and is rising at a rate of 1.7 feet per second

Here, the elevator is rising at a rate of 1.7 feet per second

Therefore, for "x" seconds, the elevator has raised 1.7x feet

Here the elevator is at ground level, therefore

y = 1.7x

Thus the system of equations are y = 35 - 2.2x and y = 1.7x

which of the following represents a chord, but not a diameter, of the circle? A. TS, B. SN, C.TR, D.MN
Georgia [21]

Answer: A diameter goes straight across the circle and passes through the center point (point M). A radius stops at the center point, making the line go halfway across the circle (basically half the diameter). A chord goes across the circle, but does not go through the center point. Therefore, the answer is C, because it does not go through the center point.

23) An extension ladder forming a 60° angle with the ground is placed against
Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer: the length of the extended ladder is 8√3 feet or 13.9 feet

the distance between the wall and the bottom of the ladder is 4√3 feet or 6.9 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

The ladder forms a right angle triangle with the building and the ground. The length of the ladder represents the hypotenuse of the right angle triangle. The height from the top of the ladder to the base of the building represents the opposite side of the right angle triangle.

The distance from the bottom of the ladder to the base of the building represents the adjacent side of the right angle triangle.

To determine the extended length of the ladder h, we would apply

the Sine trigonometric ratio.

Sin θ = opposite side/hypotenuse. Therefore,

Sin 60 = 12/h

√3/2 = 12/h

h = 12 × 2/√3 = 24√3

h = 24√3 × √3/√3

h = 8√3

To determine the distance between the wall and the bottom of the ladder d, we would apply

the cosine trigonometric ratio.

Cos θ = adjacent side/hypotenuse.

Therefore,

Cos 60 = d/8√3

0.5 = d/8√3

d = 0.5 × 8√3

d = 4√3

Select all the correct answers
Which functions are the same as their inverse functions?
KIM [24]

Answer:

f(x)

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x)=x-1/x+5

y=x-1/x+5

xy+5y=x-1

xy-x=-1-5y

x(y-1)=1-5y

x=-1-5y/y-1

x=-5

Which statement proves that △XYZ is an isosceles right triangle? XZ ⊥ XY XZ = XY = 5 The slope of XZ is , the slope of XY is , a
hammer [34]
The first statement, XZ ⊥ XY and XY = XZ = 5 proves that the triangle XYZ is isosceles.

One isosceles triangle has two congruent sides and two congruent angles.

And you should also know the theorem that states that if two sides of a triangle are congruent then the two angles opposite that sides are also congruent.

So, given that the two sides XZ and XY are congruent, their opposite sides are also congruent, and that proves that the the triangle is isosceles.
