Answer:

0.93956kg

Explanation:

Equation for the reaction is given as;

P4 + 5O2 --> P4O10

From the equation, 1 mole of P4 produces 1 mole of P4O10.

Mass = Number of moles * molar mass

Mass of P4 = 1 mol * 123.88 g/mol = 123.88 grams

Mass of P410 = 1 mol * 283.886 g/mol = 283.886 g

This means 123.88 grams of P4 produced 283.886 g of P4O10.

How many kilograms of P4O10 would be produced from 410. g of pure P4 ?

123.88 = 283.886

410 = x

x = (410 * 283.886 ) / 123.88

x = 939.56g

Upon converting to Kilogram by dividing by 1000

x = 0.93956kg

Phosphorus has the molecular formula p4, and sulfur has the molecular formula s8. how many grams of phosphorus contain the same
Alinara [238K]
1) Find the number of molecules in 7.88 g of sulfur

molar mass of S8 = 8*atomic mass of S = 8 * 32.0 g / mol = 256.0 g/mol

Number of moles  = mass in grams / atomic mass = 7.88 g / 256.0 g / mol = 0.0308 moles

2) Find the mass of 0.0308 moles of P4

mass = number of moles * molar mass

molar mass of P4 = 4 * atomic mass of P = 4 * 31 g/mol = 124 g/mol

mass of P4 = 0.0308 moles * 124 g/mol = 3.8192g ≈ 3.82 g.

Answer: 3.82 grams of P4 will have the same number of molecules as 7.88 g of S8 (that is 0.0308 moles of molecules)

If you were to assume a 95% yield for the formation of the phosphonium ion, how many milligrams of benzyl chloride and triphenyl
luda_lava [24]
I am attempting the problem for phosphonium Ion rather than its chloride salt. The chemical equation is shown below along with molar masses in mg.

First of all we will calculate the amounts of reactants required for the synthesis of 220 mg of phophonium ion. Calculations for both reactants is as follow,

For Benzyl chloride,
\frac{353420 mg of Phosphonium is formed by reacting}{220 mg of Phosphonium will be formed by} = \frac{126580 g of benzyl chloride}{X}

Solving for X,
X = \frac{220 mg . 126580 mg}{353420 mg}
X = 78.79 mg

For PPh₃:
\frac{353420 mg of Phosphonium is formed by reacting}{220 mg of Phosphonium will be formed by} = \frac{262290 g of PPh3}{X}

Solving for X,
X = \frac{220 mg . 262290 mg}{353420 mg}
X = 163.27 mg

Now
, Assuming these values as for 95 % conversion, we can calculate 100 % yield as follow,

when   \frac{95 percent}{100 percent} = \frac{220 g}{X}
Solving for X,

X = \frac{220 . 100}{95} = 231.57 mg

Now, calculate reactants mass with respect to 231.57 mg
when  \frac{220 mg phosphonium required}{231.57 mg require} = \frac{78.79 g of benzyl chloride}{X}
Solving for ,

X = \frac{231.57 . 78.79}{220} = 82.93 mg of Benzyl chloride

when  \frac{220 mg phosphonium required}{231.57 mg require} = \frac{163.27 g of PPh3}{X}
Solving for ,

X = \frac{231.57 . 163.27}{220} = 171.85 mg of PPh3

So,
reaction was started with reacting 82.93 mg of Benzyl Chloride and 171.85 mg of Triphenyl Phosphine.
