Aqueous silver ion reacts with aqueous chloride ion to yield a white precipitate of solid silver chloride. When 10.0 mL of 1.00M

AgNO3 solution is added to 10.0mL of 1.00 M NaCl solution at 25oC in a calorimeter a white precipitate of AgCl forms and the temperature of the aqueous mixture increases to 32.6oC. Assuming that the specific heat of the aqueous mixture is 4.18 J/goC, that the density of the mixture is 1.00 g/mL, and that the calorimeter itself absorbs a negligible amount of heat, calculate the amount of heat absorbed in kJ/mol of Ag+.

Answer:

Explanation:

AgNO3 + NaCl --> AgCl + NaNO3

Number of moles

AgNO3

= molar concentration * volume

= 1 * 0.01

= 0.01 mol

NaCl

= 0.01 * 1

= 0.01 mol.

By stoichiometry, 1 mole of silver nitrate reacted with 1 mole of NaCl. Therefore,

Number of moles of AgCl formed = 0.01 × 1

= 0.01 mol AgCl formed.

Heat absorbed by solution during precipitation:

Mass of solution = density × total volume

= 1 × 20

= 20 g.

q = m * Cp * (T2 - T1)

= 20 * 4.18 * (32.6 - 25.0)

= 635 J

Since 635 J was absorbed by the solution, the reaction released -635 J

So, Delta H = -635 J/0.01 mol

= -63500 J/mol

= -63.5 kJ/mol.

How many moles are there in 3.612 X 10^24 molecules of phosgene (COCL2)
Ugo [173]

Answer:

Explanation:

No of molecules = 3.612*10(24)

Avogadro's number = 6.022*10(23)

no of moles = No of molecules/Avogadro's number

No of moles =3.612*10(24)/6.022*10(23)

No of moles = 6mol

A. The measured pH of a 0.100 M HCl solution at 25 degrees Celsius is 1.092. From this information, calculate the activity coeff
ra1l [238]

Answer:

activity coefficient \mathbf{\gamma =0.809}

activity coefficient \mathbf{\gamma = 0.791}

The change in pH in part A = 0.092

The change in pH in part B =  0.102

Explanation:

From the given information:

pH of HCl solution = 1.092

Activity of the pH solution [a] = 10^{-1.092}

[a] = 0.0809 M

Recall that [a] = \gamma × C

where;

\gamma  = activity coefficient

C = concentration

Making the activity coefficient the subject of the formula, we have:

\gamma = \dfrac{[a]}{C}

\gamma = \dfrac{0.0809 \ M}{0.100  \ M}

\mathbf{\gamma =0.809}

B.

The pH of a solution of HCl and KCl = 2.102

[a] = 10^{-2.102}

[a] = 0.00791 M

activity coefficient \gamma = \dfrac{0.00791 \ M}{0.01 \ M}

\mathbf{\gamma = 0.791}

C. The change in pH in part A = 1.091 - 1.0 = 0.092

The change in pH in part B = 2.102 -2.00 = 0.102

Draw the structure of a compound with molecular formula c5h12 that exhibits only one kind of proton (all 12 protons are chemical
Sophie [7]
The middle carbon is 4-degree since it is attached to 4 carbons. All other carbons are 1-degree since they are attached to only 1 carbon.

Hydrogens attached with 1-degree carbon are all same. Hydrogen are often refereed to as protons. No carbon is attached to 4-degree carbon. So all hydrogens in this structure are same.

This structure is called  NeoPentane
