The driver of a 1560-kg Toyota Avalon traveling at 24 m/s (53 mph) on a level, paved road hits the brakes to stop for a red ligh

Answer:

The minimum distance needed to stop the car S = 36.68 meter

Explanation:

Mass of the car m = 1560 kg

Initial velocity u = 24 \frac{m}{sec}

Final velocity v = 0

Coefficient of kinetic friction between the car tires and road is = 0.80

We know that acceleration of the car is given by

a = \mu g ----- (1)

Where \mu = Coefficient of kinetic friction between the car tires and road.

& g = 9.81 \frac{m}{s^{2} }

⇒ Acceleration a = 0.8 × 9.81 = 7.848 \frac{m}{s^{2} }

From the third law of motion

V^{2} = u ^{2} - 2 a S ------ (1)

Negative sign is due to speed is decreasing of the car.

Put all the values in equation (1),

⇒ 0 = 24^{2} - 2 × 7.848 × S

⇒ 15.7 S = 576

⇒ S = 36.68 meter

This is the minimum distance needed to stop the car.

An amusement park ride raises people high into the air, suspends them for a moment, and then drops them at a rate of free-fall a
blsea [12.9K]

Answer: apparent weighlessness.

Explanation:

1) Balance of forces on a person falling:

i) To answer this question we will deal with the assumption of non-drag force (abscence of air).

ii) When a person is dropped, and there is not air resistance, the only force acting on the person's body is the Earth's gravitational attraction (downward), which is the responsible for the gravitational acceleration (around 9.8 m/s²).

iii) Under that sceneraio, there is not normal force acting on the person (the normal force is the force that the floor or a chair exerts on a body to balance the gravitational force when the body is on it).

2) This is, the person does not feel a pressure upward, which is he/she does not feel the weight: freefalling is a situation of apparent weigthlessness.

3) True weightlessness is when the object is in a place where there exists not grativational acceleration: for example a point between two planes where the grativational forces are equal in magnitude but opposing in direction and so they cancel each other.

Therefore, you conclude that, assuming no air resistance, a person in this ride experiencing apparent weightlessness.

A flashlight beam makes an angle of 60 degrees with the surface of the water before it enters the water. in the water what angle
alexira [117]

Answer;

= 22°

Explanation;

  • According to Snell's law, the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant. The constant value is called the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first.
  • Therefore; Sin i/Sin r = η

In this case; Angle of incidence = 90° -60° =30°, angle of refraction =? and η = 1.33

Thus;

Sin 30 / Sin r = 1.33

Sin r = Sin 30°/1.33

       = 0.3759

r = Sin^-1 0.3759

   = 22.08

   ≈ 22°

Correct answer choice is :

C) A jar with snails crawling on living plants

Explanation:

By using the power of sunlight, plants can change carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen in a method described photosynthesis. As photosynthesis needs sunlight, this method only occurs during the day. We usually like to think of this as plants `exhaling in carbon dioxide and `breathing out oxygen. Gas transfer between Alveolar Spaces and Capillaries. The role of the respiratory system is to transfer two gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide. The transfer takes place in the millions of alveoli in the lungs and the capillaries that surround them.

What is the y component of a vector defined as 12.2m at 81.5°?
sergejj [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

This is a displacement vector since it is defined in terms of distance (meters, to be exact). The way you find the y-component is

V_y=Vsin\theta which says that you multiply the magnitude of the vector (its length) by the sin of the direction (the angle):

V_y=12.2sin(81.5) and get

V_y=12.1 m
