Using energy considerations and assuming negligible air resistance, show that a rock thrown from a bridge 20.0 m above water wit

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that,

Height of the bridge is 20m

Initial before he throws the rock

The height is hi = 20 m

Then, final height hitting the water

hf = 0 m

Initial speed the rock is throw

Vi = 15m/s

The final speed at which the rock hits the water

Vf = 24.8 m/s

Using conservation of energy given by the question hint

Ki + Ui = Kf + Uf

Where

Ki is initial kinetic energy

Ui is initial potential energy

Kf is final kinetic energy

Uf is final potential energy

Then,

Ki + Ui = Kf + Uf

Where

Ei = Ki + Ui

Where Ei is initial energy

Ei = ½mVi² + m•g•hi

Ei = ½m × 15² + m × 9.8 × 20

Ei = 112.5m + 196m

Ei = 308.5m J

Now,

Ef = Kf + Uf

Ef = ½mVf² + m•g•hf

Ef = ½m × 24.8² + m × 9.8 × 0

Ef = 307.52m + 0

Ef = 307.52m J

Since Ef ≈ Ei, then the rock thrown from the tip of a bridge is independent of the direction of throw

Carla sees an equation that models a nuclear change.
victus00 [196]

Answer:

C. nuclear fusion, because the equation shows two hydrogen nuclei combining to form a helium nucleus

Explanation:

Nuclear reaction can either be; fission or fusion. Nuclear fission is the process by which a massive nucleus breaks in to two smaller nuclei of almost the same size with the release of high amount of energy. Nuclear fusion is the process by which two nuclei reacts, joins, to produce a massive nucleus (compared to the masses of the reacting elements) with the release of high amount of energy.

From the given equation, two hydrogen isotopes; deuterium and tritium reacts with each other to produce helium nucleus and a neutron.

This reaction is a nuclear fusion which produces a massive nuclei.

A steel rod with a length of l = 1.55 m and a cross section of A = 4.45 cm2 is held fixed at the end points of the rod. What is
Blababa [14]

To solve this problem it is necessary to apply the concepts related to thermal stress. Said stress is defined as the amount of deformation caused by the change in temperature, based on the parameters of the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material, Young's module and the Area or area of the area.

F = AY\alpha \Delta T

Where

A = Cross-sectional Area

Y = Young's modulus

\alpha= Coefficient of linear expansion for steel

\Delta T= Temperature Raise

Our values are given as,

A = 4.45cm^2

T = 37K

\alpha = 1.17*10^{-5}K^{-1}

Y = 200*10^9Gpa

Replacing we have,

F = (4.45*10^{-4})(200*10^9)(1.17*10^{-5})(37)

F = 38526.1N

Therefore the size of the force developing inside the steel rod when its temperature is raised by 37K is 38526.1N

A particle moving in the x direction is being acted upon by a net force F(x)=Cx2, for some constant C. The particle moves from x
elixir [45]

Answer:

Change in kinetic energy is ( 26CL³)/3

Explanation:

Given :

Net force applied, F(x) = Cx²  ....(1)

Displacement of the particle from xi = L to xf = 3L.

The work-energy theorem states that change in kinetic energy of the particle is equal to the net amount of work is done to displace the particle.

That is,

ΔK = W = ∫F·dx

Substitute equation (1) in the above equation.

ΔK =  ∫Cx²dx

The limit of integration from xi = L to xf = 3L, so

\Delta K=\frac{C}{3}(x_{f} ^{3} - x_{i} ^{3})

Substitute the values of xi and xf in the above equation.

\Delta K=\frac{C}{3}((3L) ^{3} - L ^{3})

\Delta K=\frac{C}{3}\times26L^{3}

A vertical cylinder is divided into two parts by a movable piston of mass m. The piston and cylinder system is well insulated (t
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:

Final temperature will be 438.076 K

Explanation:

We have given temperature T_1=323K

Volume V_1=V\ and\ V_2=\frac{V}{2}

As there is no heat transfer so this is an adiabatic process

For and adiabatic process TV^{\gamma -1}=constant

Here \gamma =1.4

So T_1V_1^{\gamma -1}=T_2V_2^{\gamma -1}

T_2=\left ( \frac{V_1}{V_2} \right )^{\gamma -1}\times T_1

T_2=\left ( \frac{V}{\frac{V}{2}} \right )^{1.4 -1}\times 332=2^{0.4}\times 332=438.076K
