The volume of a balloon f a gas at 842 mm Hg and -23 celsius if it’s volume is 915 milliliters at a pressure of 1170 mm Hg And a temperature of 24 celsius is 0.22 litres

Explanation:

Data given:

Initial volume of the balloon having gas V1= 915ml OR 0.195 L

initial pressure of the gas P1= 1170 mm Hg OR 1.53 atm

initial temperature of the gas T1 = 24 celsius or 273.15 + 24 = 297.15 K

Final pressure of the gas P2 = 842 mm Hg or 1.10 atm

final temperature of the gas T2 = -23 degrees or 273.15 - 23 = 250.15 K

Final volume at final temperature and pressure V2=?

The formula used is of Gas Law:

\frac{P1V1}{T1} = \frac{P2V2}{T2}

V2 = \frac{P1V1T2}{T1P2}

putting the values in the equation:

V2 =  \frac{1.53 X 0.195 X 250.15}{297.15 X 1.10}

V2 = 0.22 litres is the volume

The volume is 0.22 litres at a pressure of 1170 mmHg and temperature of -23 degrees.

What is the molarity of a solution of 14.0 g NH4Br in enough H2O to make 150 mL of solution?
kiruha [24]
The molarity of a solution equals to the mole number of the solute/the volume of the solution. For NH4Br, we know that the mole mass is 98. So the molarity is (14/98) mol /0.15 L=0.95 mol/L.

The equilibrium constant, Kc, for the reaction H2 (g) + I2 (g) ⇄ 2HI (g) at 425°C is 54.8. A reaction vessel contains 0.0890 M H
Mars2501 [29]

Answer: The reaction is not at equilibrium and will proceed to make more products to reach equilibrium.

Explanation:

Equilibrium constant is defined as the ratio of concentration of products to the concentration of reactants each raised to the power their stoichiometric ratios. It is expressed as K_{eq}

K is the constant of a certain reaction when it is in equilibrium, while Q is the reaction  quotient of activities of products and reactants at any stage other than equilibrium of a reaction.

For the given chemical reaction:

H_2(g)+I_2(g)\rightarrow 2HI(g)

The expression for Q is written as:

Q=\frac{[HI]^2}{[H_2]^1[I_2]^1}

Q=\frac{[0.0890]^2}{[0.215]^1[0.498]^1}

Q=0.074

Given : K_{eq} = 54.8

Thus as Q, the reaction will shift towards the right i.e. towards the product side.

What is the ph of a solution made by combining 157 ml of 0.35 m nac2h3o2 with 139 ml of 0.46 m hc2h3o2? the ka of acetic acid is
ExtremeBDS [4]
The first step is to calculate the molarity of each compound:
final volume of solution = 157 + 139 = 296 mL
molarity of <span>nac2h3o2 = (157 x 0.35) / 296 = 0.1856 molar
molarity of </span><span>hc2h3o2 = (139 x 0.46) / 296 = 0.216 molar

Then, we calculate the pH as follows:
pKa of acetic acid = -log(</span><span>1.75 × 10^-5) = 4.7569
pH = pKa + </span><span> log ([salt] / [acid])
     = </span>4.7569 + log(0.1856 / 0.216)
     = 4.691

For each of the following compounds, state whether it is ionic or covalent, and if it is ionic, write the symbols for the ions i
kupik [55]

Answer :

Covalent compound : It is defined as the compound which is formed by the sharing of electrons between the atoms forming a compound.

The covalent compound are usually formed when two non-metals react.

Ionic compound : It is defined as the compound which is formed when electron gets transferred from one atom to another atom.

All the polyatomic ions always form an ionic compound.

Polyatomic ions : It is a charged species that composed of two or more atoms and these charged species are bonded by the covalent bond.

For the given options:

Option A:  KClO_4

This compound is formed by the combination of potassium, K^+ which is a metal and ClO_4^- ion which is a polyatomic ion. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

Option B:  Mg(C_2H_3O_2)_2

This compound is formed by the combination of magnesium, Mg^{2+} which is a metal and C_2H_3O_2^{-} ion which is a polyatomic ion. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

Option C:  H_2S

Hydrogen and sulfur, both are non-metals and they will form a covalent compound.

Option D:  Ag_2S

This compound is formed by the combination of silver, Ag^{+} which is a metal and sulfur, S^{2-} which is a non-metal. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

Option E:  N_2Cl_4

Nitrogen and chlorine, both are non-metals and they will form a covalent compound.

Option F:  Co(NO_3)_2

This compound is formed by the combination of cobalt, Co^{2+} which is a metal and NO_3^{-} ion which is a polyatomic ion. Thus, it will form an ionic compound.

A compound that is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen contains 70.6% C, 5.9% H, and 23.5% O by mass. The molecular weight
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer: The molecular formula will be C_8H_8O_2

Explanation:

If percentage are given then we are taking total mass is 100 grams.

So, the mass of each element is equal to the percentage given.

Mass of C= 70.6 g

Mass of H = 5.9 g

Mass of O = 23.5 g

Step 1 : convert given masses into moles.

Moles of C =\frac{\text{ given mass of C}}{\text{ molar mass of C}}= \frac{70.6g}{12g/mole}=5.9moles

Moles of H =\frac{\text{ given mass of H}}{\text{ molar mass of H}}= \frac{5.9g}{1g/mole}=5.9moles

Moles of O =\frac{\text{ given mass of O}}{\text{ molar mass of O}}= \frac{23.5g}{16g/mole}=1.5moles

Step 2 : For the mole ratio, divide each value of moles by the smallest number of moles calculated.

For C = \frac{5.9}{1.5}=4

For H = \frac{5.9}{1.5}=4

For O =\frac{1.5}{1.5}=1

The ratio of C : H: O= 4: 4:1

Hence the empirical formula is C_4H_4O

The empirical weight of C_4H_4O = 4(12)+4(1)+1(16)= 68g.

The molecular weight = 136 g/mole

Now we have to calculate the molecular formula.

n=\frac{\text{Molecular weight }}{\text{Equivalent weight}}=\frac{136}{68}=2

The molecular formula will be=2\times C_4H_4O=C_8H_8O_2
