A scaffold of mass 60 kg and length 5.0 m is supported in a horizontal position by a vertical cable at each end. Its center of g

ravity is at the middle of the scaffold. A window washer of mass 80 kg stands at a point 1.5 m from one end. What is the tension in (a) the nearer cable and (b) the farther cable

Answer:

a) 842.8 N

b) 529.2 N

Explanation:

Given

Mass of scaffold, m = 60 kg

Length of scaffold, l = 5 m

Mass of window washer, m(w) = 80 kg

Distance of the window washer, d = 1.5 m

From the attached image

a = 1.5 m

b = 2.5 m

c = 5 m

W = 60 * 9.8 = 588 N

W(w) = 80 * 9.8 = 784 N

Since the scaffold is in equilibrium, then

Στ(b) = 0

W * (c - b) + W(w) * (c - a) - Lc = 0

Lc = W * (c - b) + W(w) * (c - a)

L = [W * (c - b) + W(w) * (c - a)] / c

L = [588 * (5 - 2.5) + 784 * (5 - 1.5)] / 5

L = (588 * 2.5 + 784 * 3.5) / 5

L = (1470 + 2744) / 5

L = 4214 / 5

L = 842.8 N

Στ(a) = 0

Rc - W * b - W(w) * a = 0

R = [W * b + W(w) * a] / c

R = (588 * 2.5 + 784 * 1.5) / 5

R = (1470 + 1176) / 5

R = 2646 / 5

R = 529.2 N

Flauer [41]

Answer:

EMF = 33880 Volts

Explanation:

As per Faraday's law of Electromagnetic induction we know that

Rate of change in magnetic flux will induce EMF in the closed conducting loop

so we have

\phi = B.A

now we have

A = (110 \times 10^3)(110 \times 10^3)

A = 1.21 \times 10^{10}

now we have

\phi = B(1.21 \times 10^{10})

now the induced EMF through this loop is given as

EMF = (\frac{dB}{dt})(1.21 \times 10^{10})

EMF = (2.8 \times 10^{-6})(1.21 \times 10^{10})

EMF = 33880 Volts

B⃗ is kept constant but the coil is rotated so that the magnetic field, B⃗ , is now in the plane of the coil. How will the magne
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer:

<u>The flux decreases because the angle between B⃗ and the coil's axis changes.</u>

<u />

Explanation:

The flux through the coil is given by a dot product, between the magnetic field and the vector representing the area of the coil.

\Phi = \vec{B}\cdot \vec{S} = BScos(\theta)

The latter vector has direction perpendicular to the plane in which the area of the coil is, and magnitude equal to the area of the coil. As in the attached image, the vector S is the vector respresenting the area of the coil.

Therefore, the flux will be maximum when the vector S is in the same direction as B, and will be zero when they are perpendicular.

Now, if <em>the coil is rotated so that the magnetic field is in the plane of the coil </em>then, the vectors S and B are perpendicualr, and there will not be net magnetic flux, that is, the flux will decrease.

Statement 1 with E

Statement 2 with A

Statement 3 with D

Explanation:

In this exercise you are asked to relate each with the answers

In general, in the optics diagram,

* Ray 1 is a horizontal ray that after stopping by the optical system goes to the focal point

* Ray 2 is a ray that passes through the intercept point between the optical axis and the system and does not deviate

* Ray 3 is a ray that passes through the focal length and after passing the optical system, it comes out horizontally.

With these statements, let's review the answers
