Peter Johnson, the CFO of Homer Industries, Inc is trying to determine the Weighted Cost of Capital (WACC) based on two differen

t capital structures under consideration to fund a new project. Assume the company’s tax rate is 30%.
Component Scenario 1 Scenario 2 Cost of Capital Tax Rate
Debt $5,000,000.00 $2,000,000.00 8% 30%
Preferred Stock 1,200,000.00 2,200,000.00 10%
Common Stock 1,800,000.00 3,800,000.00 13%
Total $8,000,000.00 $8,000

Answer:

Scenario 1 has WACC of 7.93%

Scenario 2 has WACC of 10.33%

Step-by-step explanation:

WACC=Ke*E/V+Kp*P/V+Kd(after tax)*D/V

Ke is the cost of equity =13%

Kp is the cost of preferred stock=10%

Kd(after tax) is the cost of debt of 8% adjusted for tax as below:

Kd(after tax )=Kd(before tax)*(1-t)

t is the tax rate of 30% or 0.3

Kd(after tax)=8%*(1-0.3)=5.60%

E is equity value,which is $1.8 million under scenario 1 and $3.8 under scenario 2

P is the value of preferred stock which is $1.2 million and $2.2 million respectively

D is the value of debt which is $5 million and $2 million

V=total value of capital structure=$8 million in both cases.

Scenario 1 WACC

WACC=13%*1.8/8+10%*1.2/8+5.6%*5/8=7.93%

Scenario 2 WACC

WACC=13%*3.8/8+10%*2.2/8+5.6%*2/8=10.33%

Royce is folding a piece of paper to make an origami figure. Each time he folds the paper, the thickness of the paper is doubled
Alisiya [41]
The input value is the number of times you fold it. The input value is also known as the x-value.
The output value is its thickness. The output value is the y-value.

When you don't fold it all, the thickness will remain the same, which is 2. The ordered pair would be (0, 2).

When you fold it once, the thickness will double from 2 to 4. The ordered pair would be (1,4).

When you fold it a second time, the thickness will double from 4 to 8. The ordered pair would be (2,8).

Fold it one more time, and the thickness will be 16. The ordered pair is (3,16)

Fold it the fourth time, and the thickness doubles. 16 x 2 = 32 The ordered pair is (4, 32)

Fold it the fifth time, and the thickness goes from 32 to 64. The ordered pair is (5,64)

The ordered pairs would be:
(0,2)
(1,4)
(2,8)
(3,16)
(4,32)
(5,64)
(6,128)
(7,256)
and so on :P

The question asks for 6 ordered pairs, so I bolded the first six.

Now, the equation for this would be y = 2^{(x+1)}

If we graph that, and we do the vertical line test, then we know this is a function.

It is a function because each x-value has a different y-value. There are no y-values that have the same x-values.

According to the scatterplot below, which statement is correct? A graph titled Courses Completed versus Remaining Credits Needed
kondaur [170]

Answer:

Option B.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that a graph titled Courses Completed versus Remaining Credits Needed to Graduate has courses completed on the x-axis and Credits need to graduate on the y-axis.

Points plotted are (4, 110), (8, 76), (16, 63), (20, 53), (24, 33).

Since, x-axis represents the courses completed, therefore the input, or independent variable is courses completed.

Since, y-axis represents the Credits need to graduate, therefore the output, or dependent variable is Credits need to graduate.

Therefore, the correct option is B.

Consider △RST and △RYX. If the triangles are similar, which must be true? A. RY/YS=RX/XT=XY/TS B.RY/RS=RX/RT=XY/TS C.RY/RS=RX/RT
trasher [3.6K]

Answer:

B.RY/RS=RX/RT=XY/TS

Step-by-step explanation:

If Triangles RST and RYX are similar, then the ratio of their corresponding sides is:

\dfrac{RS}{RY}= \dfrac{ST}{YX}=\dfrac{RT}{RX}\\$This could also be written by switching the numerator and denominators as:\\\dfrac{RY}{RS}= \dfrac{XY}{TS}=\dfrac{RX}{RT}

Out of the given options, Option B is true.
